"The Donald J. Trump and The John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts" doesn't even make sense. Why have the extra "the" in the name? He just slapped his name up there like it means something. Anyway, it'll be in the trash next to all the other gold leaf crap in three years.
I’m currently outside of the Kennedy Center:

also, these "WAR" values (a) are derived from a statistical model that produces ideologically convenient results that no other open-source model replicates, (b) lack controls for important factors like fundraising and candidate experience, and (c) completely ignore uncertainty in the data. not good!
it is one thing to say "here is what our measurements tell us about the playing field," it is something very different to leap from that to "and here is why we have a better understanding of your specific circumstance and your particular electorate than you, the person who represents the district"

More than 41% air traffic of controllers work 10-hour weekdays, six days a week, while their pay stagnates and morale crashes -- all reasons the U.S. has a shortage of 3,800 of them.

So a bunch of them are moving to Australia.

Dozens of controllers have departed the U.S. to take jobs overseeing air-traffic in Australia; ‘everybody knows about it.’

People hear this once and think it’s endemic. In 2020/2021 while still presenting as a white dude, I was told occasionally for certain jobs that they just weren’t gonna hire white men right now. But also I was getting interviews, plugged into opportunities, everyone would take my call. /1

Also? Every single time--EVERY TIME--an advisor or pundit or commentator or politician says "Democrats should abandon [X], it's not a winning issue," your very first job as a voter is to look into how that person's interests are served by drawing attention away from [X].

They held a four day trial to try to convict this guy. The jury took three hours to deliberate before they returned a not guilty.

The lack of empirical evidence in the “anti-conservative bias in higher education” panic is really striking.

We’ve had more than a decade of elite consternation about this so-called crisis based on a handful of anecdotes.
Clear evidence that at universities conservatives don't face higher obstacles than liberals to establish student groups + invite outside speakers.

"These results fail to offer support for the view that conservative students encounter more difficulty in efforts to access campus resources."

when we said “defer electoral strategy to the actual politicians running for actual offices” we meant “after calculating wins above replacement somehow”

“Politicians should do what wins elections” is asinine for moral reasons but also, no one knows what will win an election! Yglesias et al keep acting like there’s some obvious set of policies or words that will guarantee victory but Harris basically did what they wanted and she lost.
4. Yglesias instead seems to implicitly argue that politicians should only do what wins elections, virtue be damned. One wonders what he thinks of those foolish 1850s abolitionists. As Condleeza Rice once said, politics is the art of making the impossible inevitable. That ain't this.

we need these sorts of dipshit arguments not to be taken seriously by the party and if there’s one thing the thread makes very clear it is that he does not consider yglesias a serious person

Much reporting re DOJ’s omissions and redactions…but whose decisions were they? Surely they went up the line to Blanche and Bondi? Did they overrule career staff? Did they consult with the White House? With Trump?

And if it’s a unitary executive, aren’t they all Trump’s decisions, redactions, etc?

It has never been about immigration. it's racism, and it's intimidation. and profit for some. Allowing it to happen to any group means it's a possibility for everyone, and that's how fascism maintains power while being horrible.

No document will protect you. All they have to do is take it from you and "lose" it; take it from you and say you never gave it to them; claim it's fake ⬇️; make a new rule that you need ANOTHER document. Citizenship is a made-up status that governments decide the rules for. No one is free until all.

Yet, ICE claims her documents are “not authentic” and has held her in immigration detention for days.
