There are undiscovered hunter gatherer tribes deep in the Amazon rainforest with a clearer and more consistent foreign policy position on the Ukraine war than the current US administration.

Browsing the US newspapers, and more disgusting stuff from the Nuzzi-Lizza axis.

It would also give *Ryan Lizza*—who could, in theory, have leaked this info at any point over the last 12-16 months—a role in both RFK’s appointment and the untold preventable deaths. But Lizza either isn’t self aware enough to realize that or is too busy selling Substack subscriptions to care
well, I read it, and the salient, non-gross part is Lizza alleging, midsentence and without elaboration, that Nuzzi ran numerous “catch-and-kill operations” on RFK’s behalf, which would give her a role in both his appointment and the untold preventable deaths he has abetted in office. Cool.

Hendrix was a huge SF nerd - I know this because I once commissioned a feature called Jimi Hendrix’s Five Favourite Science Fiction novels - so I’m in no doubt as to who is the biggest fan here.
If this doesn’t brighten up your feed just a bit then I don’t know what.

Can this last decade please be the permanent death knell of people saying we need businessmen, with their eye for efficiencies and deals, running government?

We are not serious people. No one even asked us to fight for democracy - they asked us to give up a tenth of a percent of our income and we said that’s too much. We have chosen decline and chosen it with gusto
I don’t know if the bombings and blackouts just made me numb or if I’ve achieved enlightenment but I finally feel free to say everything I think about westerners and not be afraid of how they take it

The heartbreaking thing is that under almost any conceivable other form of American administration, anything non-MAGA, even with normal-bastard level Republicans or a complaisant weak-end of the Dems, we'd not be in anything like the current omnidisaster internationally.

Hey Grok where does the 152 bus terminate?

Grok: Elon Musk is the manliest man that ever there was. Feared by men and desired by women, he can lift more people and carry them further and faster than any bus. Could I interest you in some interesting facts about Hitler? Colliers Wood.

One thought-provoking observation among many: "...there is a bias in these debates in which hard questions are asked of Kyiv but not Moscow. Why exactly are Russians dying in large numbers to take over a ruined city? Will it really bring the war closer to a conclusion if this operation succeeds?"
Latest post returns to the battle for Pokrovsk and the pressure on Kyiv to order a withdrawal. I look at the factors influencing a decision, including the temptation to deny Putin a victory he has already claimed (£/free trial), open.substack.com/pub/samf/p/r...?

SCOOP — A former staffer for Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ), Natalie Green, 26, was charged today for falsely reporting she was attacked by 3 men who wrote "TRUMP WHORE" on her stomach bc of her job. It was staged by her + a friend.

Van Drew isn't named in the complaint but I've confirmed w/ his office.

Not the first time Donny's beaten off a old president.
Trump: My pollsters said, 'sir, if George Washington and Abraham Lincoln came back from the dead and they aligned and they went for the president, vice president as a combination, you'd be beating them by 25 points.'

That's a great point about the skillset of being an effective minister, which is not the same as being a policy wonk.

(Though Castle was baffled by another effective minister, Roy Jenkins, & how he was able to take long lunches in the middle of the day. He was equally bemused at her work ethic).

What are universities for if not for things like this? We're turning them into straight-up preparatory training for cubicle-work, which is all public funding seems to value. If it's not a narrow bit of job apprenticeship with no wider application, fuckit.
It was quite something to hear a passionate call to protect music and languages during a Catholic Mass in Clifton estate yesterday.

I worry about the reputational impact in our own great city, let alone beyond
