Pinned thread with various creative works I want to be able to find later. First, Adam the Golem, the story of the golem of Prague set to a possibly familiar tune: bsky.app/profile/toms...
Adam the Golem was a calm, reflective soul
With his chiseled jaw
And his sculpted abs
And two eyes made out of coal.

Adam the Golem was a fairytale they say.
He was made of clay
But the rabbis say
That he came to life one day.

PASSED: the House just passed the resolution to end Trump's tariffs on Canada.

Not many crosses from Republicans, a lot of vulnerable incumbents took a dumb vote here to stick with Trump and GOP leadership. Goes to the Senate, which is likely to pass it.

Will share the vote sheet when I have it!

If you saw today's headline that Gallup will stop measuring presidential approval, they did the same thing in 2018. They do it whenever Trump is president.

There's 17 republicans running and only three Dems, including the 2024 nominee Shawn Harris - since its a jungle primary with only the top two candidates advancing to the runoff, there's a very funny/unlikely world where the GOP vote is so diluted that both Dems make it.

First, the Trump administration said it detained Leqaa Kordia for an immigration violation.

Then, they used her participation in a pro-Palestine Columbia protest to justify it.

Now, they say she supports Hamas because she sent money to family in Palestine.

She has been detained for nearly a year:

Leqaa Kordia's family worries about her health after she was briefly hospitalized last week. DHS refused to give them information about her condition and she is still 'very sick.'

This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.

Vanderbilt Prof. Larry Bartels told me the data show Europeans have become *more* welcoming of immigrants in recent decades, a fact obscured by news coverage of the far-right. Journalists, he said, prefer to write the more alarming story. www.theredoubt.net/the-far-righ...

Or they could go “whoops never mind” which is about the least terrifying resolution
either there’s some external event that justifies this, which is terrifying; or they’re planning on doing something that justifies it, which is terrifying; or there isn’t a good reason, which is terrifying in its own way.

People do need to understand that under current law, they can in fact grab you off of the street for an immigration offense with an admin warrant.

Changing that to require a judicial warrant would in fact be a big deal, for the reasons the fascists are whining about.

So this again sounds like conservatives understand this to mean that it would require judicial warrants to arrest someone in public for an immigration offense, which is also my understanding.

Would just like people to keep in mind when they say Dems are asking for something that is existing law.
Mullin: "When you start talking judicial warrants -- it would be basically making every arrest, even if its a traffic stop, that's like making judicial warrants only possible to arrest somebody w/ a DUI. It's same concept as having judicial warrants for arresting someone entering country illegally"
