Pinned thread with various creative works I want to be able to find later. First, Adam the Golem, the story of the golem of Prague set to a possibly familiar tune: bsky.app/profile/toms...

Adam the Golem was a calm, reflective soul
With his chiseled jaw
And his sculpted abs
And two eyes made out of coal.

Adam the Golem was a fairytale they say.
He was made of clay
But the rabbis say
That he came to life one day.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided to award the 2025 #NobelPeacePrize to Maria Corina Machado for her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy

A few years ago, something like this came up, and I recall @evilrooster.bsky.social writing to conservatives something like, “Congratulations, you are a ’cafeteria Catholic’ too” — that being one of their standard insults for pro-choice liberals.

I always find this dynamic weird. If you think the Pope is the Vicar of Christ and God’s annointed representative on Earth, presumably you should stop complaining and follow his lead. If you don’t think that… why are you Catholic?

As Pope Leo begins to reveal some of his views on divisive issues, some conservative critics of his predecessor are rejecting the possible rise of another “liberal pope.”

1. Trump is not going to win the Nobel prize tomorrow.
2. Bibi will proceed to blow up this "deal" within a few weeks.

This presumes that the essence of Catholicism is the worship and/or veneration of clergy, particularly the Pope, and that’s never been a settled thing within Catholicism.

I mean, yes, these guys are ridiculous, but not because they argue with the pope. Catholics argue with the pope. It’s a thing.

The Mercator projection if it weren’t cropped

A tall world map projection showing the Earth’s continents at the top, transitioning downward into the icy landscape of Antarctica. Near the South Pole, a research station is visible surrounded by snow and ice. Below that, the image artistically fades into patterns resembling frost crystals or snowflakes, blending scientific imagery with decorative ice textures.

(since 1960 there have been four seasons with on base percentage over fifty and they are Barry bonds age 36, Barry bonds age 37, Barry bonds age 38, and Barry bonds age 39 (also greater than 60 percent))
tomscud.bsky.social
Unless you’re talking on base percentage in which case no one has done much better than fifty percent except that one guy

Or that they’ve adjusted? Not sure and im not in academia or really much affected aside from having to share a society with everyone so I didn’t really look that deeply into it. I think it was a Kevin kruse thread about a month ago?

I’ve seen a couple comments that this year’s freshmen are way better—have you seen that? Like maybe it really was a single pandemic-fucked cohort.
