Chabad conspiracies are very funny because on the internet people genuinely believe every Rabbi in Latin America or elsewhere is part of some color revolution scheme when they’re mostly busy certifying alcohol and other foodstuff related commodities as kosher. Israel hating companies included.

In 1999 some 22,000 Jews called Venezuela home, in 2020 6,000 remained.

Hard not to see why.

Who calls it jabs? The same people who spell it kerb?
Trump: "Effective today, America will no longer require 72 'jabs' for our beautiful, healthy children. We are moving to a far more reasonable Schedule, where all children will only be recommended to receive Vaccinations for 11 of the most serious and dangerous diseases."

I mentioned the other day that a distant relative of mine died recently; what I didn't mention was that he was a child survivor of the Holocaust. Seeing this obit so shortly after he died really drives home that the last of the survivors are rapidly disappearing from this plane.

A single phone call asking a city council member or state legislator to vote your way on a specific legislative proposal has *significantly* more political impact than a social media post with 1,000 shares.

The amount of “this is clearly about oil” posting across all platforms as story after story comes out where the oil industry is saying that the oil isn’t worth extracting is making me feel a little insane

Having taken a day to step back and breath and now coming back and thinking about everything again, this is the only thing I can say for sure about what's going on with Venezuela.
This is all going to get even stupider

If anything stops Xi Jinping from invading Taiwan, it'll be American arms and the threat of a collapsing Chinese economy that could threaten the Chinese Communist Party. That's it. No international law, no UN resolution, no European statements - it doesn't matter

Nobody in Moscow or Riyadh or Tehran is impressed by universal adherence to international law. This isn't about fielding the superior argument, it's about being able to destroy economies or sink enemy warships

I've seen a million posts like this but that's just not how international politics works. What really matters is power, not credibility or moral consistency. If Xi Jinping thinks he can successfully invade Taiwan at acceptable cost, he will do it
If Xi Jinping invaded Taiwan right now, and toppled the president there, on what grounds would the United States object? Or have any credibility to say anything?

Look at how much stronger putting the "Maduro sucked" bit second makes this
Mark Kelly puts out a statement saying "The President of the United States just overthrew a foreign ruler and explained to the American people that this is about taking control of the oil reserves of a foreign nation." This is probably the strongest statement alongside Gallego's I've read.

Granted it’s Trump so there could be a couple oil execs plotzing rn
So many people over decades have been called conspiracy theorists for suggesting that U.S. intervention is driven by capitalist interests, and the interests of the oil industry in particular. Now the president just says it outright in press conferences and interviews.
Q: China, Russia, and Iran have interests in Venezuela. How does this operation affect your relationships with them?

TRUMP: In terms of other countries that want oil, we're in the oil business. We're gonna sell it to them. We'll be selling oil.

This will get less attention than Tucker Carlson's interview with Fuentes. It shouldn't.

This week, Carlson hosted Ian Carroll, a conspiracy theorist who has blamed Jews for 9/11, spread claims of Jewish control over gov't and media, and promoted the "Khazar" myth to delegitimize Jewish identity.

Trump's threat to bomb Iran made something clear to me in a way I hadn't yet formulated: His conception of US military force, like his conception of the federal govt, is now entirely personalized. It is a power to be wielded not on behalf of US interests but on behalf of his personal whims.

This really is essential to understanding Trump foreign policy. Indeed, private profit is essential to, or at least an element of, most significant foreign policy decisions. And this is why Trump wants no discussion of foreign policy as policy within the GOP or Congress. bsky.app/profile/juda...
