🧵Helpful things to do while visiting your parents this holiday season:

- Change their remote, smoke alarm, & flashlight batteries

- Make sure they're logged into all apps on their phone, Roku, etc

- Turn off the motion smoothing setting on their TV

- Check the fire extinguisher expiration date

we get it, man there's just a lot and what are we supposed to do about it
I worked for DOJ. I don't think people realize how dangerous it is for the White House to takeover the daily operations of the Justice Department.

The Professor, our foster dog, is up for adoption but has had zero applications. And I get it, people are busy, but he’s wonderful.

Not a sleep in your lap dog but the king of sleep next to you dogs. Just a nice little 4 month old gentleman. With a PhD.

The USPS faces a tight squeeze. With fewer people using the mail, it’s lost more and more money: $9 billion in the 12 months ending in September alone.

Does anyone else bristle at this framing? WSJ says blue books are “torturing” students with hand cramps, and “nobody likes them.”

Listen, students have been outsourcing everything to AI and cheating their way through college. Blue books should be celebrated as a return to authentic human learning.
They Were Every Student’s Worst Nightmare. Now Blue Books Are Back.
Cheating with ChatGPT has become a huge problem for colleges. The solution is painfully old-school.

This piece is really videogames focused, which I can't blame This Week in Videogames for being, but it makes a compelling argument that a consumer-grade RAM shortage that lasts months if not years seems very likely and will be bad for anyone who does *anything* on a computer.

I just reduced background noise, chopped the 14 minutes into 3 minute segments each compressed under 100 mb for bsky's limits, cropped and rotated a few degrees for easier viewing on here
