Middle aged white dudes love to point at graphs of busted ass CPI data and go “the economy is actually awesome for the average person”

Being an economist seems fun. When ppl say the material reality of their lives has gotten worse you get to chuckle and say “sounds like you’ve come down with a bad case of the vibes” before pointing to the real economy, a theoretical set of abstract values aggressively massaged for max positivity
I think this strengthens the case for Stancilism.

Immediate post pandemic economy was *weird* in a way that made it hard to compare it to similar years.

But we've got low unemployment and low inflation now. Very hard to make the case that now is worse than the Volcker shock.
UMich consumer sentiment (current conditions) at 50.4 is a new all-time low -- going back to data from the 1970s.

“I will no longer be complicit in genocide. I’m about to engage in an extreme act of protest but, compared to what people have been experiencing in Palestine at the hands of their colonizers, it’s not extreme at all. This is what our ruling class has decided will be normal.”

The number of people the U.S. has declared killing since September in strikes on small boats allegedly smuggling drugs has risen above 100, following attacks on six vessels in the past week.

It really is the same. Extrajudicial killings shouldn't be a partisan issue. Obama had kill lists he signed off on, innocent people including children were killed.

It's likely the unstated position is accelerationism. I assume that in the long term, they're expecting some kind of never before seen super majority to emerge after letting these freaks do the maximum amount of harm possible. Nevermind that their political projects aren't all that distinct anyways.
Really, really wish some news outlet would directly ask what the strategy or calculus is behind just giving Trump the nominees he wants. What's the fucking point? What's the strategy of just letting every freak into govt when we see what happens?

On the positive, the ubiquity of things like wrapped highlights that metadata has widespread use value to regular people. Using it for the purpose of entertainment is preferable to what it's usually used for (advertising, surveillance), and it says something interesting about us as creatures.
this whole everyone doing a wrapped thing demonstrates just how out of ideas companies are. all that kpi chasing really does affect the creativity

There should be an alternative word for "enshittification" that makes it very clear that the phenomenon is specifically resultant of capitalism. Systems can certainly degrade from scope creep and poor planning, but the way most experience it is specifically as an externality of the profit incentive.

And tens of millions of you still believe you can sort this out if we only we could just elect a couple more thirtysometnings who lie about being progressive.
Yesterday, Trump ordered a naval blockade of Venezuela, an act of war. Today, nearly 8 in 10 senators voted to authorize $901 billion in military spending, $8 billion more than Trump asked for.

This vote was destined to fail before the Democrats voted to further abuse our trans folk. You might wonder why there’s a recurrent proliferation of malicious, corrupt and out of touch officials in govt. Simply, the issue is systemic. Our class interest isn’t represented by this govt of the rich.
Here are the 28 Dem Senators who voted to advance the first federal ban on trans athletes & a federal definition of sex that would make trans & intersex people non-existent: Angela Alsobrooks (MD), Tammy Baldwin (WI), Richard Blumenthal (CT), Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE), Chris Coons (DE), ->
By a vote of 76-23, S 1071 passes the motion to proceed to the motion to concur. Won't know who voted for this until the roll call is uploaded, but safe to say it passed with the support of at least 24 members of the Democratic caucus. (Rand Paul probably voted nay and Steve Daines has been absent).

There is violence all over the world. People are murdered every minute somewhere in the world. There is injustice everywhere. It should be recognized outside of whatever the mainstream media is pushing for you to be concerned about at any given time. Sudan been bleeding, very little attention.

Can you explain how the genocidal, pro-regime change, pro-capitalist, pro-ecocide Democrats who don’t want to give any of us poors healthcare or living wages or housing or education plan to adequately address inequality, Bernie?

Asking for ~342,000,000 citizens.
As Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis stated in 1933; “We can have democracy in this country or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of the few, but we cannot have both.”

Today, at a time of unprecedented income & wealth inequality, his words ring truer than ever.

The Rules-Based International Order (RBIO) used the blockade and seizure of ships as justification for bombing Yemen.

Yemeni forces were trying to halt a genocide.

The US is trying to do regime change on behalf of capital.

The RBIO is violating international law to enforce unilateral sanctions.

That’s because they’re complicit. 48 House Democrats and 13 Senate Democrats voted for the Laken Riley Act, which gave ICE/LE the necessary legal framework for this insanity. The Democrats took no unified party stance on this issue and routinely increase the funding for LE across the country.
This is Gestapo behavior and Democrats in Congress continue to do far too little to stop it.

damn really makes you reflect on the numerous other times the US government and its proxies have said "terrorists" were using "human shields"
It’s clear from the video this woman had just come to the park to play with her child. She said as much and was upset that there were masked men with guns in the park.

Border Patrol chief Greg Bovino calls the woman an “activist” and Andy Ngo says the woman was using her child as a “human shield.”
