At some level how long am I required to tell people to stop their multi decade obsession with hurting "Mexicans" at their own peril, literally working politics and NPOs to save people in terrible circumstances and pain before I'm allowed to say "Fuck it, feel free to touch the hot stove moron"

Increasingly hard to ignore the fact that a significant number of people on this site think that the US should be some penitent/martyr-state kept in a permanent immiseration by the priest-theorist class for its corrupt original sin.

That's okay tho because those losses will be compounded with losses from grid drain due to AI and right around the time people pay 700+ buck a month power bills maybe they'll learn

Picture how big the Hoover Dam is. An absolute unit. The Hoover Dam has a power capacity of 2 gigawatts (GW).

The solar farm that the Admin just cancelled could have produces 6.2 GW of power. That's more than 3 Hoover Dams.

SCOOP: The Bureau of Land Management says the largest solar project in Nevada — the Esmeralda 7 mega-farm — has been canceled

The news was quietly dropped via a sudden website update with no public word from any of the companies involved or a statement from the agency

Like explain to me what else I needed to do? I showed them the math. I showed them the budgets. Now they're all like "I didn't trust you, person whose extended family lives here who invested time in local politics, I trusted a new York city pedophile rapist who loves firing people"

I'm allowed to lose my mind when a rural city i spent loads of time in and did political advocacy in had it explained to them that their hospital & grocer were supported ENTIRELY by public $ and that their continued insistence on voting R would mean they'd lose both, and now that's happening.

Thiessen having a good chuckle about his fired liberal colleagues - some of whom he worked with for 15 years - is a good reminder that token conservatives at mainstream news outlets are/were there to destroy them, not to contribute to them.

Thinking about how Newgrounds’ policy during this whole thing has been, “If you can give us money or you’re old enough to know what The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny is, you’re clearly 18. Now leave us alone” and it’s worked out for them.

It can't be ignored that a despicable villain and POS like Argath is now the median Groyper rightoid Trump voter today.

Besides linking Tylenol in pregnant women to autism, RFK Jr. now says circumcision is part of the reason why kids are autistic.

"Children who are circumcised early have double the rate of autism, and it's highly likely because they're given Tylenol. None of this is positive..."

Marjorie Taylor Greene more honest than the NYT and WaPo when it comes to who is responsible for the shutdown.

Imagine being a newspaper that's less trustworthy and honest than a sitting Republican and one of Trump's closest allies. Truly wild shit.

Marjorie Taylor Greene on polls showing Republicans are getting blamed for the shutdown: "I'm not putting the blame on the president. I'm actually putting the the blame on the Speaker and Leader Thune in the Senate. This should not be happening ... we control the House & Senate & have the WH."

if blue state governors and mayors aren't already thinking about the reliability of various police forces nominally under their control, they should start immediately

he probably doesn't! most American police forces are some combo of rogue paramilitary and criminal gangster conspiracy! but that's all the more reason to start standing up some loyal formations bsky.app/profile/kitc...
Pritzker seems to be semi waving the white flag on that and acting like he doesn't control his state police. Hope he reconsiders.

in retrospect it was just great how milquetoast centrists decided the best way to react to the AWESOME police corruption and brutality exposed by the George Floyd protests was to go "actually, defund the police is a bad slogan, the Unserious Left needs to shut up" bsky.app/profile/mcle...
mclendaniel.bsky.social
They've known they have little to no control over these forces since 2020 and all chose to ignore it during the Democratic administration that might have given them some cover to do something about it!

This is, and ought to be, sobering.

I had not thought about it in quite this way.

Never before in American history has one state's military force been deployed in another state over its objection.

I say never because the Civil War involved states whose governments legally ceased to exist, their offices vacated by constructive resignation, with no legitimate governors to object.

Pritzker: "He wants to militarize major cities because he wants us to get used to the idea of troops on the streets. I believe he's gonna post people outside of polling places and if he needs to in order to control those elections, he'll assume control of the ballot boxes & count the votes himself"

Social media is very effective at creating sin-eaters. A sin-eater is different from an ephemeral main-character. It's a recurring "well would you look at that guy" person you see screenshotted on your feed constantly, who is meant to stand in for the evils of some larger group you dislike

Then don't expect trans people to sacrifice themselves for your rights either. We are all free or none of us are, and if you can't stand and die on this hill, your country isn't worth dying for.

I hate to say it but the majority of the country is not going to die on the hill of trans rights. We can't protect ANY groups if we can't win a national election, so purity tests only serve to make specific groups feel triumphant. That's not "erasing" them; it's long-horizon strategy.

If you look at the sheer insanity of what government officials and agencies openly post on XShitter, it becomes abundantly obvious how much the press is complicit. If Dems did even a fraction of this poasting it would be saturated in news coverage.
