One of my favorite reads of 2025.
If you are unfamiliar with The Map and the Territory, it's my post-apocalyptic picaresque novel about a cartographer and a wizard trying to get home in a shattered world haunted by gods and opportunists.

If you've enjoyed The Map and the Territory, it would mean a lot to me if you were to review it! This book only has 27 ratings on Storygraph and 50 on Goodreads; I'd love to see it reach a wider audience.

Reviews.

Reviews are free AND they are a gift to authors that can keep on giving (i.e., exposure, marketing, algo boosts, etc.)

Please, give the gift of reviews to your authors this holiday season. It really can make a difference!

Any conversation about genre in the 21st century (especially, but in no way limited to, folk-horror, horror and contemporary fantasy) that doesn't include the quiet, yet vivid underpinning of Hookland, is missing something vital.
The witch works with cold realities. She walks the mud, she walks the mist. Puddles on the threshold of ice become her scrying pools. Trees become a black scratching against sky gift her a new secret language. No season is hollow of magics. – #EmilyCBanting, 1982 #WitchSky

An excellent thread, and an even better book.
I hope you're liking this Solstice Advent calendar thread of quotes! The Wolf and the Wild King reaches its climax on the winter solstice, a night of storm and treachery.
