I'm gonna be dead ass half the movie is Jake getting his ass beat being pathetic almost dying like 5 times trying to kill himself via firing squad bc he hates himself so much till he finally just gives up and does what his wife told him to. Did we even watch the same movie
He’s in the same American fantasy vein as the Joker and Walt from Breaking Bad, like hard working family man who’s had enough but he’s touted as the moral centre of the film, like he is the good guy and always correct and his traditional family values or whatever will always win out
