This is a genuinely huge, sweeping victory today for the University of California—or rather, for us, its faculty, acting through our faculty associations, while the UC itself maintained a strict policy of deer-in-headlights silence.

The Trump admin has given up its appeal of a powerful injunction:

Unbelievable
The CIA’s World Factbook, a repository of facts on nations that for six decades provided detailed figures on birth and death rates and major exports, relied upon first by government agents and eventually researchers, educators, journalists and more, was shuttered without warning on Wednesday.

Yes, the rhetoric needs to stop. Stop demonizing and dehumanizing immigrants. Stop calling people exercising their legal rights “terrorists.” Stop using the language of combat in dealing with civilians. You created these conditions and used them to kill people. Stop.
Homan: "I begged for the last two months on TV for the rhetoric to stop. I said in March -- if the rhetoric doesn't stop, there is gonna be bloodshed. And there has been. I wish I wasn't right. I don't want to see anybody die."

Do not fuck with the horse girls. We’re used to being up early, out in the cold, covered in mud, with one minor wound or injury ar all times. Our friends weigh 1200 pounds and wear steel shoes.
Just logged on to IG and saw this, they’ve radicalized the equestrians

“When a domestic agency dresses for war, it risks acting as if it is at war, even with the public. Clothing alone does not determine conduct, but it can help shape a worldview in which violent confrontation is more likely.”

There's this general sense on this website that GOP pols on the Hill are privately appalled by Trump and just waiting for their moment to jump ship.

And, I gotta tell you, when I talk to my contacts there, I just get no sense of that whatsoever.

Apart from the irony of Stephen Miller using the phrase “understanding of law,” does this mean the United States will akso be invading Costa Rica?
This guy is basically inviting China to take Taiwan.

There’s a GoFundMe for Jonathan Ross’s legal expenses for murdering Renee Good.

This violates GoFundMe’s Terms of Service. Everyone must report it.

A thread on how to do that 🧵

Introduce yourself with what almost killed you!

Hi, I’m a mare who doesn’t plan to go over that jump but does want to see her unsuspecting rider go over it alone, head first.
Introduce yourself with what almost killed you!

I'm a semi-truck that merged INTO my lane while I was on my bike doing about 65+.

You know that scene in Fast and the Furious where the car goes under the truck and comes out the other side? Yeah.

Well for one, [CLASSIFIED] and also [CLASSIFIED] but thankfully a raccoon was there.

To echo: do not cite anything you have not at least skimmed and can verify it really exists and says what you say it says (or is about what you say it is about). Even if you collect citations from others' work (a legit practice), CHECK THEM.

Two people tried to extinguish the light of Chanukah through murderous violence.

But was is one man, Ahmed al-Ahmed, whose flashlight shone through the darkness they wrought, a reminder of Chanukah’s message that in the longest of nights, a tiny flame can dispel much darkness.

This only "works" for them if everyone answers yes and is allowed to proceed. Simply say "am I being detained?" or "am I free to go?"
