Like, this is an extreme outlier and one of the few times _maybe_ the player actually earned more than the owners made off him.

it was closer to $2m per rWAR with the Nats. If you reversed the salary years no one would say boo.
I hope this buyout lasts as long as humanly possible so Rendon can continue to be paid not to play baseball for the rest of his life

let us salute one of the great all time bag getters, $66 million per fWAR is sublime work
Alden Gonzalez is reporting that the Angels are trying to buy out the remainder of Anthony Rendon’s contract. Rendon is expected to retire, and the team is hoping to defer some money he is owed to help give them financial flexibility. He is owed $38 million for 2026: www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/...

So this is about seo, as usual.

There's a lot of non AI slop there too.
NEW: AI “recipe slop” is overrunning search and social. Food creators say Google’s AI Overviews and glossy fake food pics are drowning out real, tested recipes — collapsing traffic and setting home cooks up for disaster, especially this Thanksgiving.

AI Slop Recipes Are Taking Over the Internet -- And Thanksgiving Dinner
Food bloggers see traffic dip as home cooks turn to AI, inspired by impossible pictures

What s stupid statement. Lol. Are you running back Nimmo from last year or the year before when they made it to the NLCS?
@SNY_Mets tweeted
David Stearns was asked if wanting to change the Mets' clubhouse dynamics played a role in the Brandon Nimmo trade:

"I don't know if it's necessarily wanting to change the clubhouse dynamics. I think it's a recognition that what we did last year wasn't good enough and running

Semien for Nimmo seems to be a terrible idea. Can't really make it make sense in my head.

I wonder if it matters. The people engaging with or writing about those accounts weren't doing it in good faith, it was just content churn. They were using those posts to piggy back their own, the legitimacy of it doesn't matter to them.
Twitter now displays where accounts are from and it has confirmed that too many of the political accounts are out of country bots.

Why are folks still there? To argue with bots? A waste of precious time while enriching the richest man on Earth.

Delete your account.

I can't help but feel this is all just a big #capitalism thing where (regardless of AI) these big labels/companies/etc are just trying to claw back fair use so they can sue you if you parody/fan art/etc outside of the approved places.

Because it got easier and they lost some control.

hey, Carlos Mendoza gonna get a third year as Mets manager, first guy since Collins to pull that off.

Although maybe he shouldn't..

This is before democrats opening their mouths and republicans cheating, but I halfway joked that when they made Biden step down, if they'd just put "Unnamed Democrat" on the ballot and appointed Kamala after instead of before, she would've won.

Critics of computers seem to grasp this even less, truth/fact has zero input. The only thing allowing for this is that it exists on the Internet.

It's pattern matching. High level often, but that's it.

It's basically the opposite of correlation doesn't equal causation.
High end wealth inequality allows for shit like this

Small talk with strangers does not solve loneliness.
“Whatever could be causing a loneliness epidemic?” you ask the internet, sitting in a driverless car wearing headphones that you never take off in public, as an anonymous shopper makes contactless delivery of your meal kits using the keypad entry of your condo atop empty ground floor retail space

This is mostly just trash, but I would find a one-way notes tool like this fairly useful. small tasks, needed groceries, ideas that I think of when I am not going to take 30 seconds to open my phone apps (and get distracted). In the shower, driving, etc.

brief AI email summary next morning maybe.

This has been happening for....a decade? But now it's existence fits into a predefined narrative so ..
Google is adding commentary to its soccer game scores with AI. The LLM is literally just reading the stat sheet and trying to narrate the flow of the game as if it has any idea what's happening.
