Vorauseilender Gehorsam. It's what explains how quickly Germany aligned into fascism in the 1930s.
I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

Things are really patchy in GP land, and many people struggle with access, but overall, primary care has innovated more, and become much more productive than the rest of the NHS.
I am constantly so impressed with my local GP clinic. It is impossibly efficient. There is no relationship with an individual doctor - I don't want one - but the moment you have a concern about something they sort a call back that day or a walk-in appointment that week. They're just brilliant.

I just reject this in so many ways. Racism is not caused by the presence of immigrants; immigrants can and do become british and thats wonderful; white british people are not incapable of accepting immigrants into their country without becoming irrational racists

This is one of the changes in the UK media landscape that should be more remarked on: the fact that being a very open, proud, outright racist is no longer a bar to being a pundit on some TV stations (in this case GBN and Talk TV).
Lucy White advocates a ban on "non-natives" from office, citing Rishi Sunak and Priti Patel.

So she is referring to UK-born ethnic minority citizens. (Her argument would apply equally to Shabana Mahmood, Kemi Badenoch, Suella Braverman and others)

The report into Boris Johnson’s record during the Covid epidemic blames a ‘toxic, sexist and chaotic culture’ in Downing Street. Who’d have thought it?

Good. Germany should do the same.
French authorities are taking X to court because Grok is now doing straight up holocaust denial. Gas chambers intended for disinfection, cyanide residue tiny, ‘story’ persists because of taboo against critical examination. (Full translation in alt text)

I didn't even lose anyone close to me during the pandemic. Still, feeling somewhat triggered, in young people's parlance. Those were hard times. And we had narcissistic, irresponsible, complacent leadership. Shame on them.
Today, as the #CovidInquiry releases its module 2 report, we are thinking especially of everyone who will have to relive the trauma of that time, who will have to hear of the government failings that led to their loved ones' deaths.

We will never forget our beloved dead. ❤️

I will never forget having to edit Jamal’s final, posthumous piece for the Washington Post, after he was murdered.

He was calling for free expression in the Arab world. You can read it here :

Opinion | Jamal Khashoggi: What the Arab world needs most is free expression
The Arab world needs a modern version of the old transnational media so citizens can be informed about global events.

Let's not forget. I remember listening to the story when it happened as I was sitting with my dying husband. Everyone who touched him in his last weeks, did so with love and care. I remember thinking, how do you even get over knowing that your loved one was abused and tortured as they died?

Sounds fair.
I propose that every person in the emails we already have, and every person in the to be released files be made to live on Epstein Island together, with only each other, for the rest of their lives.

The Home Secretary says "we have become the destination of choice in Europe, clearly visible to every people smuggler and would-be illegal migrant across the world"

That is a factually untrue claim: the Home Office shows that the UK is fifth, getting 1/10 claims, while Germany gets 1/5 claims

the thing that strikes me about this — again, besides it being false — is the venom and disrespect for the people who come here to work and build better lives. they aren’t “servants.”
JD Vance: "Democrats' idea was the way you get more prosperity is that you import more and more low wage servants."

Can we just raise tax for people on decent incomes (and I include myself in this) and be done with it? And crack on actually making things better - for all of us - because lo and behold, the money I would save on tax doesn't buy me good schools, unis, roads, trains, prisons, GPs on my own.
God help us, it looks like utter chaos in there.
