I understand that a lot of reactions are going to be along the lines of “well they’re just going to claim literally any protest is non-peaceful” and I’m sure they will do that in some cases

but these kinds of TROs have actually made a difference in other places

don’t hand it to them preemptively
BREAKING: Judge enters TRO blocking feds from interfering with or arresting peaceful protesters in Minnesota. Judge Kate Menendez, Biden appointee. Order: www.documentcloud.org/documents/26...

"No funding increase" also means no funding decrease and still enormous amount of funding.
🚨BREAKING: DEMS DRAW RED LINE IN DHS APPROPS: NO FUNDING INCREASE FOR ICE. POLICY RIDERS GROWING. STORY COMING IN MIGRANT INSIDER
🚨NEWS: Senate Dems are reportedly offering ICE funding increases in exchange for body cams and de-escalation training for agents.

Body cams can be turned off. De-escalation training can be ignored.

Unclear if no masks, requiring ID badges, and no immunity is on the table.

Because the media does not know how to frame what is happening, they keep referring to regular Minnesotans as protesters. But there is very explicit training that so many people done to learn how to be a constitutional observer. People are bearing witness to kidnappings, with phones and whistles.
by @democraticwins.bsky.social CNN just aired a devastating compilation of all the times ICE brutally attacked Americans. Remember, Donald Trump sponsored this. This is done at his command.

Hey @schumer.senate.gov, resign.
Just got this forwarded. Here are the talking points Schumer's team just emailed out to their allies TODAY - this afternoon.

The words "Minnesota" or "ICE" don't appear anywhere here.

Just so people outside of MN know - a lot of the US citizens getting “arrested” by ICE never get processed at Whipple. They are roughed up during the arrest and then often dropped off miles from where they were picked up. It means we don’t know the true scale of what ICE is doing based on ICE stats

this is authoritarian in the sense that ICE's power is pre-delegated and it now has the option of withholding enforcement as an instrument of power. this produces no finality or resolution. remember the threat here is to send your family to a prison or camp, maybe thousands of miles away.

protection in return for police favors is not adjudication, its intimidation. its a form of transactional corruption and signals the fusion of judicial and police powers.

And as much as the losers on this website accuse me of dooming, I don’t think the fascist have anywhere close to the power for an organized suppression by intimidation and violence! The greater threat is being negotiated into an illegitimate power sharing agreement with them by our own opposition!

There's no remotely legal way to do something like this and practically speaking our decentralized election administration makes it very difficult to fuck with the process. But that doesn't mean he won't try.
Trump says a lot of deranged shit, but, per this Reuters article — and the threats of invoking the Insurrection Act in Minnesota this morning — he is very clearly exploring how to cancel the midterms.

So they are redefining “peaceful protest” to exclude any mass activity.

at the end of the day, the problem is very simple and has been unchanged for a long time. if people recognized reality, they would have to do something about it.

It will split the Republican Party, cost them the Senate, and no annexation measure will pass Congress.

US troops will be stranded there until the next POTUS withdraws them. NATO will be dead, but Trump will have gotten nothing for the effort.

It will be a catastrophe for both him and the nation.
If Trump invades Greenland, the Europeans won't fight back, Republicans will defend it, Democrats will issue statements, there will be protests, and most Americans will disapprove of it enough to earn Democrats a bit more of the vote in November. Then on to the next thing.
More than an attempted coup, where a mob tried to seize Congress on live television did? There's not going to be an implosion about anything. It's either a slow slide towards oblivion where everything gets incrementally worse as people try to live normally, or a slow grind in the opposite direction.

That means their forces doing this instead of doing something better. It means they are having to plan to do this instead of doing something else. It means them thinking through scenarios where the US is an enemy, instead of thinking through scenarios where the US is an ally. These are costs *now*.

Folks in the US still like to treat the whole Greenland invasion stuff as sufficiently unserious to engage with, but it is sufficiently serious that NATO allies are actively deploying tripwire forces to deter the US. That is *already* a political and actual cost to them, and to US relationships
