‘A move towards an authoritarian state’: what those with trial experience think of removing juries
David Lammy plans to cut the number of jury trials in England and Wales. A defendant, a victim, a barrister, a KC, a judge and a juror have concerns

Headline should be: “Elon Musk and Trump in the USA and Keir Starmer in the UK killed children with aid cuts”
The number of global deaths of children under-5 is projected to increase this year (from 4.6m to 4.8m) for the first time this century. (FT)

The price of aid cuts.

Zack Polanski's position on NATO is so uncontroversial to the normal person the anger from media types about it, is laughable.

"Europe's defence shouldn't be focused around the whims of a mad tyrant and a nation who votes for that tyrant"

I promise that's an easy sell for most people.

Labour’s electoral problem is less the “rise” of the Greens and more that they have abandoned any and all moral principles in favour of mass deportation of immigrants, abolition of trial by jury and support for torture.

Many of us can no longer vote for the Omelas party.

Scottish Ministers' huge climate gamble with carbon capture is delusional. 🤯

Ministers are betting that this dodgy tech will cut equivalent of 1/3 of *all Scottish emissions* by 2040.

But right now there is no plant, no planning application & now the main developer is quitting.

A lot of sage nodding of heads by middle aged men in response to this concluding I have Starmer wrong and he's correct.

You have the same problem he does! You're immune to the suffering he's inflicted, willingly carried on from the Tories, so don't understand why the targets now viscerally hate him
Keir Starmer - "I’ve always wanted a Labour government but I’ve never worried about the future of our country under a Tory government."

The words of a man so insulated from the harm done by the Tories he felt no compulsion not to continue the harm not being done to him and his.

Starmer wants criminal gangs to continue to run the drugs trade, using kids as buyers and sellers.

The Green party would take the drugs trade out of the criminal underworld, regulate it properly, and have full support from clinicians.
Starmer says he’s "taking the gloves off" and that the Greens are "nuts"

Big talk from the PM of vibes based cruelty and trickle down cowardice.

What about the people who have been here for years but not long enough to acquire settled status?

Looks like ruining their future is perfectly acceptable to Labour.

When Zack Polanski said the Greens were here to replace Labour, I was skeptical. I thought it wouldn’t happen.

It’s happening. You can tell because the media and Labour are suddenly rattled.

Labour seem to have reached the "we're going to lose our damages deposit, so we might as well wreck the place" stage of their tenure.
Keir Starmer's planning to make former First Minister Vaughan Gething a Lord according to The Times.

Mr Gething was FM for 4 months.

His time as leader was overshadowed by a controversial £200k donation to his leadership campaign.

He stepped down after 4 ministers resigned.

This is a completely INSANE and unforgivable thing for the leader of the Labour party to be saying.

Disqualifying. Should be laughed out of every single room for the rest of his life.

Starmer: “I’ve never worried about our country under a Tory government”

NEVER vote for this disgusting Labour government again. Starmer is happy with the 14 years of hell we had. He’s happy with the deaths from welfare cuts. He’s happy with Brexit. He’s happy about the constant lies.

Never again

Attacking the Greens for not being keen on NATO doesn't strike so hard in an era where the President of the United States is setting fire to the NATO alliance in real time.

We should have pivoted to a more European focused security model years ago and the next best time would be now.

The current Labour government is more right-wing than David Cameron's in 2010. They are dead to me now. Each week brings a new horror. They have squandered their stonking majority.
They promised change - they lied.
