Don’t get me wrong, I think the DSA needs a new cohort of FP thinkers but the funny part is… so does basically the entire literal dem establishment lol. Any criticism you may have of the IC, of which *many* are legitimate, falls a lot flatter these days when you look at what the dems have said/done!

In incredible news, the European Parliament has voted overwhelmingly for "The Full Recognition Of Trans Women As Women."

Even the center-right European People's Party voted for the declaration.

It will form a foundation for their position at the UN Commission on the Status of Women.

Our latest.
European Parliament Votes Overwhelmingly For "The Full Recognition Of Trans Women As Women"
The resolution, though nonbinding, is a significant shot at those who seek to erode transgender rights on the continent.

it's backwards. obama and biden conceded the republican framework of border obsession, sliding right and setting off a near-inevitable push to where we are today. once again the democrats triangulated themselves into becoming republicans, allowing republicans to publicly embrace explicit fascism.

It's actually very bad this guy either thinks or is pretending to think there are a plurality of elected Republicans that care about democracy
When a President tries to jail Senators for speaking their minds just because he disagrees with them, that is not a Democrat or Republican problem—it’s a constitutional crisis of the highest order.

We must all come together and take action to stop this erosion of our democracy.

I really need to write about why the two American "parties" are not, in fact, parties

So many people -- today, both communists and neoliberals -- get lost in the sauce because they don't understand that the Democratic Party is a left-of-center ballot line with a donation apparatus strapped on

I have two primary vehicles. One is an automobile, the other an e-bike.

Automobiles kill approximately 100 people a day in the US. E-bikes, fewer than 10 a year.

Guess which one has a speed limiter on it?
This technology already exists and is widely used. It doesn't involve 'government surveillance' and would not allow ICE or any other government agency to stop individual cars.

Just say you think thousands of kids dying every year is worth it so you can speed!

Speed Limiters Now Mandatory in All New EU Cars
Intelligent Speed Assist (ISA) isn't an ironclad speeding prevention system, but could be just annoying enough to spark a backlash.

Hot take but a lot of opposition to “e-bikes” is just opposition to bikes in general. E-bikes are not quieter than acoustic bikes, when any bike is noisy it’s almost always noisy brakes or chain which apply to both types of bikes

Next time I’m climbing the hill into my neighborhood with two kids and groceries I’ll be sure to apologize for cheating
This is the most exhausting e-bike take. Tell a disabled person who has discovered expanded accessibility and mobility through e-bikes that they're "cheating."

Fuck off with this ableist crap.
Also, it allows lazy people who don't ride bikes often to go 25+ mph & wrecklessly. & on trails that don't allow motorized vehicles, people cheat with e-bikes.

New paper finds that US bike deaths have "trended toward lower-density suburban areas" rather than central cities

Those killed tend to be poor and non-white.

Lesson: The suburbanization of poverty could be contributing to the surging number of cyclist fatalities.

Bring double parking tickets back with a fury
the number one impediment to emergency vehicles are the two rows of parked cars on nearly every street in the city
In response to a caller complaining about outdoor dining allegedly causing traffic, Menin says she wants to ensure the sheds don't do that or obstruct emergency vehicles.

Unclear if there's any proof they block either, since the structures take up what is usually free street parking.
