You have to love people in need more than you hate the other side, even when the other side is full of malice. You have to want progress more than you want vindication of a world view or the intoxication of self-righteousness. Otherwise, it's not activism--just ego.

"LLMs are simply tools that emulate the communicative function of language, not the separate and distinct cognitive process of thinking and reasoning, no matter how many data centers we build."
Is language the same as intelligence? The AI industry desperately needs it to be
The AI boom is based on a fundamental mistake.

Remember when Melissa Harris Perry had someone on her MSNBC show talking about how entrepreneurs are people who take risks unlike all those lazy poor people looking for a handout?
You have to keep giving money to avoid collapse and if there’s collapse you have to give more money. It’s called the free market.

There are 50,000 food insecure children in Maine and 2 trans athletes. Every single candidate running for office who can drum up concern about the latter but has nothing to say about the former is telling on themselves. They don’t care about children. Only power. And they’ll hurt kids for it.
25 Nov 2025 @rikiwilchins.bsky.social -- In unusual move, Sen Susan Collins (R-ME) signs petition for referendum on the 2026 ballot that would bar trans students from sports teams, locker-rooms and bathrooms. She's in a hotly contested election & this is pbly one way to increase Rep turnout.

This man is "in science" in the same way that frat boys are "in liver health"
Over many interviews, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told Michael Scherer about how he plans to remake America’s public-health system. Can he lead the scientific establishment he’s spent much of his life crusading against?

Many years ago I fell in love with Elizabeth Cady Stanton's speech Solitude of the Self, a feminist argument rooted in the necessity for each of us to have the freedom to develop a rich inner life to sustain ourselves in good times and bad. These guys should maybe read it.
really is incredible how often "men are having a problem, let's fix it using someone else's entire life" comes up. does the institute for family studies understand that children are whole complete human beings whose existence cannot be used as a coping mechanism for their fathers' anxieties? (no)

That last line is a beautiful sentiment, greatly needed right now.
Let's move on with the rest of the passage.

Lewis recognizes that modesty raises thorny issues, but he sweeps them aside to focus on the more important spirit. I want to bring your attention to the last sentence here:

Media literacy is down, so to be clear, when the WSJ writes “Ultimately, the fact pattern Meta relies on to meet its conflicting objectives strains credibility” about your accounting practices and runs an accompanying flowchart, that is the equivalent of a 500-foot neon sign reading “FRAUD”
This feels like one of those stories you're going to look at a year from now and say to yourself, "Why didn't I move more of my portfolio into cash?" **

Everything wrong with political journalism in one graf. This is not a policy proposal that exists but that doesn’t matter, what matters is that someone “won” by asking it bsky.app/profile/larr...
What a strange framing and characterization. How does one describe his blatantly dishonest, racist question about taxes as “press[ing] the Mayor-elect on his policy proposals”? In what way does this lying troll emerge as a “winner“?

I'll have you know I have the exact correct amount of books and all of my plants are dead.
Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

Extremely naive of me, but I've been surprised by the targeted attacks on Black women of the last few years. In addition to increased visibility of professional Black women that @chadstanton.blacksky.app references, I suspect the role of Black women as a powerful Dem constituency made us a target
Yep, one of the biggest drivers of the elite panic around “wokeness” was the increasing prominence of Black people and particularly Black women in their fields and we’re seeing that coalition rewarded with the targeting of Black workers.
Since February, according to my latest analysis, almost 600,000 Black women have been economically sidelined. The November 20, 2025, Jobs Report makes clear this isn’t a blip. It’s a structural crisis. That is not a recovery. It is a redistribution of opportunity.

This makes me think Cassidy has never been titillated and honestly makes me a bit sad.
CASSIDY: I know it's titillating, but I think we need to move beyond the titillation

TAPPER: This isn't about titillation. This is about the fact that you are the chairman of the health committee and you voted to confirm somebody that by all accounts is actually making America less healthy

The argument in favour of AI is that it cuts employee costs for businesses that simply can’t afford those staffing levels.

But a successful businesses not having enough money to pay the required number of staff is a *decision*. And a side effect of endlessly moving money up, away from most workers.
