Never trust a Tory or a Neoliberal

What we know about the coalition:

They will carry out their policies and the coalition agreement.
Everything else they say is lies.

Easy way to analyse any of their comments, media releases etc
#NZpol

Yep, wouldn't trust any of their assurances *at all*.

This is the same lot that made *election* promises about Dunedin hospital... oh wait, until they broke them. That their tax cuts were 'definitely costed'... oh wait, until forced to admit they weren't.

On and on their gaslighting goes.
I keep thinking about how Peters said the hīkoi was a waste of time because the bill isn't going to pass. But (a) I don't trust any of these arseholes to do what they say they will, and (b) if there was no pushback I'm sure Luxon et al would happily vote it through into law. #ToituTeTiriti #NZpol

Getting rid of regional councils is absolutely about selling off the country bit by bit.

Here's the Minister for Corporate Control, giving the game away.

A choice that reduces our community power to say no to any destructive and polluting businesses being built in our shared backwards. Come on, all you NIMBIs, a multi-storeyed apartment building, to house PEOPLE, is the least of your potential problems being caused by this govt. Wake up!
getting rid of regional councils, one of the few voices at the table when it comes to fast track applications and the bodies that are supposed to monitor any ongoing consents, is certainly a choice

It’s hard not to believe that Luxon’s move to dump regional councils isn’t just another way to remove obstacles to rampant corporate profit making at our expense.

More emissions, more pollution more contaminated drinking water, more intensive dairy, more roads and less accountability.

Not to mention having the resources to disentangle the verbiage, bullshit, pretzel logic, reckons, prejudices, misogyny, racism and blithering incompetence of the entire cabinet that spits out rubbish like this on some kind of demonic schedule
Because mayors have a heap of free time to successfully

"form 11 Combined Territories Boards (CTBs), which would meet regularly and - on top of handling the business of regional councils - would tasked with coming up with a "Regional Reorganisation Plan"[sic]

What the actual fuck. No. Fuck off. Fucking dipshits. This country would not function without our regional councils. Jfc. This is the stupidest thing they've ever suggested.
Centralizing so much long term decision making power for reforms which will last decades with elected officials whose incentives are all short term doesn't seem like a great idea #nzpol

It is absolutely critical to democracy that communities directly own their water infrastructure but also unimportant that those same communities get to decide how they look after our environment?

If cognitive dissonance could be harnessed for fuel then we could all live happily ever after
