Temerko, a Soviet-born oligarch and a major Conservative donor, told Belton that he and Johnson spent time… plotting the overthrow May. According to Temerko, Johnson had finally been persuaded to back Brexit in 2016 by a group of “eastern European businessmen”.

The fact that there has not been proper outcry at the transformation of WH Smiths into TG Jones tells me everything I need to know about where this country is at now. I am old enough to remember the Choco Krispies protests of 1998.

I have been reading a series by this author who I just found out uses AI and is featured in this article, which is very revealing. She comes across as being quite smug about using it, so why not slap a ‘made with AI’ on the listing so I could avoid it.

Can AI write good novels?
Authors are getting a hand from machine learning tools — and some of them think it’s the future of writing.

Just as depressing as that other article. We’re accelerating towards a culture of sludge. Books cowritten by Ai, art where the emphasis is on how you can present it on TikTok. It’s all so depressing. www.theverge.com/c/23194235/a...

It's real, and it's mind-blowing.

A complete lack of awareness and a national embarrassment.
Just some British patriots in Benidorm, taking over a street in Spain to shout in their own language about unwanted foreigners. It’s a blessing that they are too thick to understand irony.

Also - why are they the loudest?

Because they've been picked out and given platforms and loudspeakers by older conservatives with the power to do so. Older people with power and a vested interest in misrepresenting Gen-Z by distorting who has a voice from their generation.
7/🧵 The loudest voices aren't the most representative. Every generation has extremists, but social media amplifies fringe movements beyond their size. A handful of young white nationalists create viral moments that crowd out broader trends. We mistake the exception for the rule.

Umpty-dozen films, books, TV shows... have shown us that trying to use technology to "bring back the dead" always ends badly. But these chuds obviously tuned out after the first 30 minutes.

@greatdismal.bsky.social thought we needed the Turing Police. Maybe we need the ELIZA Police...?

Yes it's a really important detail this.
I'm not sure if others have noticed this, but interesting that one of the Prescott criticisms of the BBC is based on those of the 'History Reclaimed' group, which is also associated with the 'Restore Trust' group's attacks on & so far unsuccessful attempts to take control of the National Trust. 1/3

I’ve been thinking how the grandfather who was alive never talked about the war - despite clearly being proud of his service. No doubt being a girl was an issue, but I was the history buff who would’ve really appreciated it. Such a missed opportunity…

Lots of stuff here that you won't read in most of the legacy media which seems completely uninterested in the backgrounds, associations and possible motivations of those behind the BBC crisis.

Why was the BBC having its homework marked by a lobbyist who hasn't worked as a journalist for 20 years?
🧵On our revelations today about the BBC Coup and the Prescott Dossier.

The one thing every single one of us can count on in this life is that you will become disabled.

The only variable is whether it happens at birth, in old age, or somewhere in between
Yall real silent about disability injustices because most of you don’t see disability as a thing that can happen to you.

We are “aww those poor people”. Meanwhile disability can happen to anyone at any moment and those injustices you ignored? They become your experiences too
