"My mentor always tells me, 'Kim, dogs don’t bark at parked cars." They’re coming after critical race theory, 1619, intersectionality because these ideas mobilized people. They gave them the language to actually articulate what they were seeing with their own eyes," says Kimberlé Crenshaw.

Carl welcomed me as new external expert to Strategic Working Group at Div of AIDS with driving tour of culinary options in Bethesda. Never acted like I had any less knowledge or insight than SWG members who ran global HIV research networks. 1 of the best experiences of over 30 yrs of HIV activism.

Carl created a seat for this loudmouth HIV activist at Strategic Working Group of the Division of AIDS when it didn’t have community rep focused on prevention. Meant groups I repped helped set policies & funding for 5 global research networks. A true mensch. Huge loss, along with Jeanne Marrazzo.
Hearing news that Carl Dieffenbach, the Director of the Division of AIDS at #NIH (NIAID), has been removed from his position because he was "not aligned with HHS/OMB."

Russell Vought continues to remove great scientists as part of the Project 2025 mission to politicize and destroy NIH.

1. A landmark study was just published in The Journal of Pediatrics.

It found a 68% reduction in suicidality for trans youth getting HRT.

It also found only 7 of more than 400 stopped taking HRT... and of those that did, 4 still identified as gender-diverse.

Transgender care saves lives.
Study In The Journal Of Pediatrics Finds Trans Youth Care Lowers Suicidality, Few Detransition
The groundbreaking study found that suicidality dropped for transgender youth receiving hormone therapy by nearly 70%, with only 7 patients of 432 discontinuing treatment.

This is yet another example of terrible care at a supposed #LongCOVID Clinic and is even more disappointing given that mt Sinai’s @putrinolab.bsky.social helped to invent GOOD long COVID care.
Ppl w #LongCovid in nyc: avoid the Mt Sinai clinic in union square.
It is not connected to the one lead by David Putrino. The union square is run by a nurse who is pushing SSRIs as the only possible Covid treatment & if you don’t want them they refuse to offer anything else.
And they insult you.

In Monrovia, California, protesters are purchasing 17¢ ICE scrapers from Home Depot and immediately returning them to create long lines and slow down the entire store. Their aim is to disrupt sales and convey a message opposing ICE raids occurring in their neighborhood.

To help artists find “a path to the deviations within themselves,” Nayland Blake has a few (or 100) thoughts. Assignments include installing shelves on the street and making a sculpture that “produces the pleasure of being ignored.”
100 Assignments From Nayland Blake
While these assignments will not turn someone else into me, they will provide the practitioner with a path to the deviations within themselves.

reminding the military that they have a duty to disobey illegal orders seems like the kind of message that might upset someone who is giving the military illegal orders.

Remember the recent middle-of-the-night apartment building raid where children were dragged outside naked & zip-tied in the street while black & Latino residents were _sorted by race_ and piled into separate vans while their apartments were ransacked & robbed? That raid? So it resulted in 0 arrests.

THAT'S LITERALLY HOW THE SUBSIDIES & ACA EXCHANGES WORK ALREADY.

CONSUMERS ARE INFORMED BY COMPARING POLICIES ON THE ACA EXCHANGES, THEN THEY PURCHASE ONE AND THE GOVERNMENT PAYS SOME OR ALL OF THE COST OF THAT POLICY.

I'M TEARING THE LITTLE HAIR I HAVE ON MY HEAD OUT.
Cassidy: "The president is proposing that we take the $26b that would be going to insurance companies if we just do an extension and give it directly to the American people in which 100% of the money is used for them to purchase healthcare on their own terms. That makes them an informed consumer."

Those claiming Dems should retreat on racial justice aren't hard-headed realists, they're pushing against the electoral tide rather than leaning into it. The story of Gen Z isn't about racist backlash or red-pilled young men. It's the most racially progressive generation in American history. 🧵
