ICE is younger than my blog

ICE is younger than my email address

ICE is younger than at least one of my ukuleles
I'm just going to point out that ICE is about 23 years old. It was formed as part of the response to 9/11 and was reactionary, performative, and racist from the start.

Its not eternal. This is not a thousand-year Reich.

Real ID does not prove citizenship. ENHANCED ID proves citizenship, but only a few states (Minnesota, NY, Michigan, Vermont and Washington) offer enhanced ID as the default form of Real ID-compliant identification. In every other state, RealID only proves residency. Ppl are not as safe as they think

Gotta love when a company is like “You’re our employee of the month! Now fill out this long form that we will publicize about why you love working for our company and no you won’t get reimbursed for your time.”

How do I say no without risking my job

This whole thread
There's more to say about this open letter, unfortunately, but bear with me, because I think it's important. For example, this response in the File 770 comments by SFWA board member Jonathan Brazee. In essence, Underwood gives cover to SFWA and vice versa. But both their positions are crap. 1/?

In the world of politics, such surveys, unscientific and with randos inserting themselves, are a way to deflect taking responsibility for an issue, or to use said survey to support whatever those in control wanted to do in the first place, before it became controversial. 4/?

A good example of how "lefties" are totally down for imperialism and war, if the PRC is doing it.

The US isn't trying to pry Taiwan from China, because China doesn't own it. Rather, the Taiwanese don't want to be annexed to the PRC, and nations around them are supporting them.
The U.S. empire is digging its own grave by trying to pry Taiwan from China — every move tightens Beijing’s resolve and edges the world closer to a conflict Washington can’t possibly win. #Geopolitics #TaiwanCrisis

Reading a long list of court cases over which groups can be designated as white, and this is why white privilege is absolutely real. There are so many of these cases for the same reason there AREN’T any cases over the definition of a Leo. Your sign doesn’t come with legal advantages. Whiteness does.

I’m unclear about the metric for “better rep” in this instance. Oftentimes these pleas direct the narratives toward some notion of what depictions of asianness, especially diasporic ones, are more or less genuine than others, which always bugs me.

Somehow you just know they were the kind of person who took a postcolonial lit class in college, didn’t do any of the reading, derailed discussions with a bunch of “devil’s advocate” questions, and then dropped the class when they saw the grade on their first paper.

I’m just guessing.
I don’t think that is actually how being anti-colonial, or decolonial or even postcolonial works

I just had a weird thought. What if someone went caroling with a bunch of people and they were all dressed like normal carolers but when the door opened they only sang non-Christmas songs. Just like five minutes of Baby Shark or Last Resort or something
