This point is disturbing: Guilbeault "was also deeply troubled by the ease with which the PMO was casting aside its moral obligation to May. What was the Liberals’ word worth?"
Mark Carney seems to have forgotten the first rule of central banking: Your word, your credibility, is all.
Good work by @althiaraj.bsky.social on the inside story of Guilbeault's resignation, from his being frozen out by PMO, given false assurances, and being made to wear the government walking back on pledges he made to Elizabeth May to secure her support. No kidding it was untenable for him to stay.

No one should be under any illusions about who the base of the UCP are.

Separatists and far-right radicals have been given care and feeding by UCP Premiers since 2019. One got thrown overboard because it wasn’t enough. Catering hasn’t mollified them either.

I think that somewhere along the way something in Stephen Miller got fundamentally damaged. This is neither an excuse nor a mitigating factor; the dude is genuinely fucking evil and he and everything he stands for should be fought against and stopped. But he is something beyond mere sociopathy.
Since Stephen Miller is in the midst of another of his Aryans-only trantrums, we should note that his family are 20th century immigrants from the shtetl of Antopol (Антопаль) then in the Hrodna gubernia of Russia. Applying his immigration rules, they would all have perished in the Holocaust.
Stephen Miller Is an Immigration Hypocrite. I Know Because I’m His Uncle.
If my nephew’s ideas on immigration had been in force a century ago, our family would have been wiped out.

Given that’s there’s a non-zero chance the pipeline never happens but Carney gets blamed for supporting it and failing to get it done, I’m going to call this one a questionable move!

Has anyone elaborated on this argument of how requiring that environmental claims be backed by actual facts creates investment uncertainty?

The obvious inference is "being prevented from making claims without a proof hampers investment/attracting money", is there something else?
