(M)oral Torah: Manna sustained the Israelites in the desert, given in equal measure and unable to be hoarded so that each person had enough every day.

"We must trust ourselves to build systems where 'a day’s portion on its day,' means everyone truly has enough."

There is a lot to say about this, but today, my focus is simple:

Our tradition teaches us that it's on us to take action in the face of tyranny.
Yes, even when the threads to our neighbors, and ourselves, is by a government far greater than us.

When we do, we might even get to sing about it!

Shabbat Shalom!

This Shabbos has a special name: Shabbat Shira - The Shabbos of Song.

Referring to the Song of the Sea read today, the story of the sea crossing has been on my mind a lot this week. It's the story, we are taught, of the impossible happening.

Facing a "Pharaoh" today? 🌊 Whether it’s at the bank, the doctor, or in your own mind, remember: the pressure is often an invitation to connect with Hashem. 🕍 Use the challenge to draw closer, not just to run away. 🙏✨

The greatest darkness isn't a lack of light—it’s when we fail to see the needs of those around us. 🌑🤝 We weren't created to just see ourselves; our purpose is found in empathy and connection. Turn on the light today by helping a fellow! ✨🕯️ #Empathy #Torah #Kindness #Light

For Shabbat Shirah. As usual, the "blob" won't load.

LOVE what this episode did for Klingons, but ironically I feel like I have a very different interpretation than a lot of takes I've seen.

It portrayed Klingons not as a culture of warriors, but of storytellers. And all at once gave nuance to their entire history (LONG 🧵)

FOUR journalists were arrested. Proving again that this administration isn’t “pivoting” or “turning down the temperature.” By targeting independent journalists instead of the murderers of Pretti and Good, this is ramping up. Not winding down. www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...
Don Lemon arrested by federal authorities after protest at Minnesota church service
Attorney General Pam Bondi said in a Friday post on X that Lemon was arrested alongside three others "in connection with the coordinated attack on Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota."

Lemon has one of the nation’s best lawyers and a national profile. I’m worried about the other reporter and two activists arrested with him.

I really have become convinced by the "It's All Content" theory of American politics. Everything the Administration does is about producing content. Arresting Don Lemon may seem like transparently clumsy authoritarianism which will backfire - but think of the likes they'll get! More content! More!

Hope to have all my packing for #gally1 done by Sunday night, except for food which I'll pack Wednesday morning. Apparently flight is at 11, not usual 11:30 so I'll have to get up half an hour earlier. Tomorrow I'll do test walk to LIRR to see if enough snow is cleared to go with suitcase Wednesday.

The word armadillo is borrowed from Spanish and simply means “little armored one.” But an even better word for an armadillo, in my opinion, is the Nahuatl ayotochtli. It means “turtle rabbit.”

Aaaaa latest episode of #StarfleetAcademy got me bawling my eyes out. I KNEW Jay-Den would be my favorite, but this episode exceeded my expectations. What it had to say about traditions in diaspora spoke to me as a Jew, and I can only imagine how it could connect to other minority experiences too.

Baby shampoo mixed with water recommended as optimal treatment for pepper spray by an ophthalmologist, which speaking as a maker of soap & “personal care products” makes total sense. Milk products not recommended primarily due to risk of infection. Plain water is fine & much better than nothing!
The guy who makes funny doctor videos (who actually is an ophthalmologist) just made a couple on pepper spray generally and with contacts. We live in weird times.
