I'd say I'm distracted by Leo and Diaz because I can't separate their personas from their performances, but taking that in stride I count this among my favourite Scorseses.

DDL is just undeniable, and the way Marty evokes the history so clearly is a miracle. Love this movie.

Rewatched THE BIG HEAT a few weeks back and it’s remarkable how she steals the film from both Glenn Ford and Lee Marvin, two immense screen presences. Just absolutely bodies them out of frame.
