"I find myself wondering if I still have a home here in Minnesota, in America, in the world of the people who get to decide who is valuable and who is not, who belongs and who does not, who lives and who dies."

Letter From Minnesota: “If They Take Me and Leave the Children…”
Today is Tuesday, January 27th, 2026. I got gas for the first time this year by myself. The gas station was mostly empty. I drove into the station, heart thudding in my chest. I did everything as f…

A reminder that ICE hasn’t slowed down in Minneapolis at all.

Outside of Minnesota, it might feel like everything has changed since Alex Pretti’s murder. But ICE hasn’t actually lost any power and they’re continuing to terrorize our communities.

My mind has been racing for weeks. I keep typing posts and deleting them. "Finding the words" is taking time that it feels like I don't have. But what more is there to say? My city, my state, my home, is in utter anguish. Rest in peace, Alex Pretti. ICE OUT NOW.

UPDATE: Now, 215 Minneapolis General Strike solidarity actions are being held around the country.

This could create serious momentum for strikes in other cities where ICE attacks.

I've been trying for weeks to find the words to describe what it's like to live in the heart of Minneapolis right now. I'm still finding that words fail. Heartbreak and fury rise to the surface. We the people are together on our own in this nightmare.

Don't forget to stretch and rub thy back in a doorway or on a banister like a bear. Tense times. Don't store it all up in your bod if you can help it.

Minneapolis is headed towards something resembling a general strike, if you were wondering how the campaign to cow working people into quiescence is going
Last night, The Minneapolis Federation of Educators Local 59 signed on to the call for a Jan 23 shutdown. That brings total labor support to: the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 1005, SEIU Local 26, UNITE HERE Local 17, CWA Local 7250, St. Paul Federation of Educators Local 28, and the MFE 59
Unions and community orgs are calling for a Minnesota-wide shutdown in 10 days to protest the ferocious assault by federal immigration agents. They're saying on Jan 23, no work, no school, no shopping. SEIU Local 26, UNITE HERE Local 17, & others are supporting, w/ more to join. By me, Amie Stager

For people outside Minneapolis: North is the historically Black part of the city. It's been heavily disinvested from, gutted by the 2008 mortgage crisis, and got hit by a tornado which did damage you can still see from aerial photos. It's no mistake ICE is going after more vulnerable populations.
i feel for the people of north minneapolis if they’re about to become a protest hot spot from outside the neighborhoods. this is an area often neglected and ignored by even its own elected officials. people not from over north should really be judicious in how they act coming over there
Near Lyndale and 24th Ave in Minneapolis tonight, feds have reportedly shot another person.

Preliminary info is shaky for now, hearing two people injured.

BORTAC just rolled up in an armored vehicle. A crowd is gathering outside the police tape—MPD presence as well.

Instant vivid memory of Minneapolis cops cruising through Powderhorn taunting residents in the days after George Floyd was murdered by cop.
Apparently ICE goons in multi-car caravans are circling Spanish immersion preschools in the city taunting and photographing the parents and neighbors who are patrolling the school perimeter to keep kids safe.

If ICE can do this to a random woman in a car, they could and would absolutely do this to any elected official, journalists, human rights lawyer, or immigration advocate they deem to be an enemy of the regime
Absolutely horrific details about an ICE shooting in Minneapolis.

A witness says a woman was trying to drive away from an ICE operation and the ICE agent "reached across the hood of the car and shot her in the face like three, four times."

Bovino was there.

I started my first ever playthrough of Pokemon TCG for Gameboy Color last night. SUCH FUN! The soundtrack is awesome, the matches are exciting, and every time you win you get all the thrill of ripping a vintage booster pack for free.99. If u, like I, skipped this one back in the day, big recommend.

The discover tab has summoned a bunch of nice people to discuss picking instruments back up after time away on my post. My inner music educator compels me to heartily encourage that. Keep your inner critic in check and do what makes you happy. More human-made music is always a net good.

Cello time has been very pleasant. Crusted my way through some scales and etudes. As could be expected it'll take me a minute to re-learn some technique stuff but I've been summoned to join an orchestra so good practice time lies ahead.

I haven't played cello in about 15 years and today my friend borrowed me one! Beyond excited to play some after work. I did keep playing bass guitar over the years. While Jack Black's famous "Cello, u got a bass" is a bit of an oversimplification, they are similar enough for decent skill transfer.
