I presume even this yet more explicit evidence of how ridiculously manipulated Twitter/X is by fake “patriots” from suspiciously distant locations still won’t be enough to stop politicians and journalists continuing to keep it alive by participating.
Twitter pays people based on engagement (views, retweets, comments, etc). It appears that many MAGA accounts are based abroad and they use AI technology to generate low-effort rage bait.
My guess is that this will get worse as AI tech improves. For instance, fake videos of minorities doing crime.

Agreed. Journalists, Politicians, Activists, Public Figures, NGOs, etc., all USED TO get something immensely valuable out of Twitter - and I assume many have hung on because of nostalgia and sunk costs - but it is an increasingly putrid carcass of what it once was. Leave it to decay without you.

It’s good to see some solidarity in an event that’s specifically about unity. I hope more countries join this stance.
