Fair warning to new followers 😬
Scene from Star Trek TNG: Picard hangs his head defeatedly as Q (mischievous alien being) plays trumpet with a mariachi band on the Enterprise bridge. Caption beside Picard “people who follow me for one topic”; beside the mariachi band “the rest of my interests”

Choosing yarn online can be so difficult! 😩 These are supposedly the same yarn and colour - surely there wouldn’t even be this much difference between dye lots?? 🧶
Drops Air - Ruby Red yarn on the maker’s website. A lovely plum yarn with hint of purple Drops Air - Ruby Red yarn on WoolWarehouse. This time it looks like a deep dark purple with hints of black

After a long pause, I've just done another England Covid & NHS update as we head into the autumn/winter season.

TLDR: we're in a significant Covid wave now, the NHS is stretched, get boosted if you're eligible.

Done at Abbey Road Studio 2, no less. Vocal recorded to slowed-down backing track and then sped up for younger sound (Beatles trick). Ghostly guitar by Harpo. "Village green" reference an obvious nod to The Kinks.

You can call political leaders fascist if you do it responsibly. But understand that fascism isn’t a fringe pathology. It’s one of the central ideologies in our culture.

You can’t declare fascists beyond the pale and move on. You have to confront them and defeat them politically.

Maybe it’s cos the songs are so long - they get bored…

Was he? Well Hackett is the one standing in the 73 concert then 😆

Hmm… I am unconvinced. This from ‘73, Wembley ‘87… Rutherford seems fairly fit to me 🤔 (Crimson I know almost nothing about)

(I should perhaps note, we’re not hearing a will being read, just wishing my mum happy birthday)

I mean, Steve Howe has had to have a stool for a couple of decades now, but that’s cos he’s old… 🤭

But even the band have to sit? Wow

Shuffle on Doppler is playing me all the right tunes just now. This one also has a great video - hopefully my family dinner tonight will be more peaceful 😆

Why would security stop them from standing??

Wow that’s quite a jump! Must be something involving people who can afford those rates??

This is from much earlier. Different band. Radio session. It's about breaking up with Kate, my first long-term girlfriend. Jeez, were all my lyrics about love gone wrong? The "I'm trying" bit nicked off Syd Barrett's Opel. Harmonica by me. Guitar solo by Canadian Dave.

I like this one too, although I now wish the ending was less shouty. I like how I sing the verses though. It's about the same person as the other song. The verses are from her imagined pov, the choruses from mine.

Arguably the finest vocal/lyric/song I ever did. The band ended bitterly, but if I try hard enough I can remember the good times.
This song was about a night that I thought was the start of something special, but it turned out to be a false dawn.
