Not just Texas. Academic freedom has been under attack globally since the powers of neoliberalism foisted corporate ‘values’ onto academics whilst simultaneously pushing them to demonstrate ‘impact’. If you start advocating for anything discomforting to PR and HR depts, you cop it in the neck.

I have to pass the ‘induction’ to show that I’m capable still. But they are sending a contract Monday. I may have to be ‘quiet’ on Social Media if I sign on, but every employer restricts advocacy online these days. I can be ‘values led’ and poor / shouty or richer and self censored.

Literally some woman (Fiona Cameron) sponsored me in 2021 to recommend me to these folks. They tried to recruit me during my mental breakdown in June 2020, but I of course couldn’t engage. But they remembered me and contacted via LinkedIn recently. They are looking at expanding into the UK space.

Thanks mate! I also got offered a contract to do my old Oz Quango job, helping Unis elevate their Bids for ARC industry Grants - after I last did this in 2018! Here I was, minding my own business as a bored house wife forced into medical retirement in the UK. But the pay rates are $$$!

I’ve worked with these kinds of folks and they’ve all picked up their OBE / MBEs for the Pandemic response now but go to Infection Prevention & Control conferences sans masks. They have been lucky enough to survive and move on.

Had my first paying gig in the Performing Arts sector this week! Leading a Costume making workshop. Teaching teens to sew is very gratifying!

CO2 readings from my kids 6-hr holiday program activity today, in a room shared with 20-30 other kids. Clearly an increased risk of COVID & other airborne infections. Reducing kids chances of re-infection (therefore long COVID) means improving indoor air quality in classrooms. This is achievable.
