Not great optics to tell a bunch of European diplomats (that negotiated the Iran Deal that stopped Iran’s nuclear program) that diplomats couldn’t stop Iran’s nuclear program.

I think in general what a lot of foreign policy folks in admin don’t possess any self awareness.

it's funny following this discourse while being on the philosophy job market and hence being aware of just how many jobs every year are specifically earmarked for conservatives
Maybe it’s just because I’m in PPE circles where these are prominent, but the basic premise doesn’t even make sense. There are loads of right wing (be it libertarian or conservative) funding bodies for the humanities and social sciences already. Things like IHS and Mercatus on the libertarian side

God, great piece from @damemagazine.bsky.social about living with institutional failure. I'll freely admit I'm furious at times just thinking about the institutions that should have at least tried to do something and instead contented themselves with the sidelines or outright collaboration.
The Emotional Toll of Living With Institutional Betrayal - Dame Magazine
What happens to us when institutions protect power instead of people? From Epstein to ICE, institutional betrayal is inflicting trauma and moral injury.

👇🎯 @willbunch.bsky.social is right. The reason all the awful & illegal things keep happening in 🇺🇸 politics - from 1865 to now - is because there are never any actual legal, personal, & professional consequences for the awful & illegal things happening in 🇺🇸 politics. That must change this time.
Gift article: "We won’t get anything resembling democracy until we clear that widespread debris, and that means sending a bunch of these liars to prison, because they are the real criminals. America desperately needs truth and consequences."

completely agree
This elitist view that only rich/Ivy/private school kids should study/have access the liberal arts is so deeply ingrained in so many highly educated Democrats’ views (including tons who majored in the lib arts themselves) that they don’t even realize they hold it, let alone how ugly & elitist it is
(3) But the Democrat view is also bad: while it's fine for people at Princeton and Harvard to study Latin and Sanskrit, public higher education is about job training and $ ROI. There is no room for the idea that curiosity-driven inquiry is a good that should be supported by the public.

Predatory old men like Lawrence Krauss are why younger women are overwhelmingly becoming left-wing.

Why on earth would you be in a party led by Donald Trump and populated with elites like Krauss?

there is absolutely no moral difference between what chomsky did here and denying the holocaust. none.
This is Noam Chomsky talking about Cambodian refugees accurately describing the horrors of the Khmer Rouge that they’d escaped from.

This line in particular is why I’ve hated Chomsky for so long.
"refugees are frightened and defenseless, at the mercy of alien forces. They naturally tend to report what they believe their interlocuters wish to hear."

This is very similar to the AI videos my dad sends me thinking it's real.

There's a huge market for AI women giving testimonies that appeal to men/what they want hear, even further reducing the chance they will question if it's even real.
Over on X, the Everything App, serious conservative thinker Dinesh D'Souza shared a video of an AI-generated woman on a fake podcast he seemingly thought was real, telling the audience that young women should get with older men. Dude, wtf?
