I’m here for a social media site that doesn’t actively support fascism, transphobia, or racism, so we can build a world that doesn’t either. I’m used to disappointment.

If CEOs don't love what they do, then why do we trust them with whole companies? If they *do* love what they do, why do we have to pay them? If a CEO CEOs for anything but love of the organization, why would anyone want to work for them? They shouldn't CEO for money, is all I'm saying.
"You shouldn't make art for the money" buddy I'll take it one step further and say we shouldn't have to labor for capital at all but in the meantime pay an artist

There's a couple reasons so many IWW songs are set to the tunes of hymns and one is that the Salvation Army Band would show up and try to stop workers organizing by playing hymns to drown out speeches, so the Wobblies came up with words so they could sing along. SA has been trash all along.
It's that giving time of year again, so this is a reminder that no matter how they try to dress it up, the Salvation Army is not a charity.

Of all the wonderful lines in the newly late Tom Stoppard's Hamlet fanfic "Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead," I come back to this one a lot, lately:

"There must have been a moment, at the beginning, when we could have said no. But somehow we missed it.

We'll know better next time."

I never tire of having this conversation with the older kid: “This song you’re loving is from TMBG’s Flood. It came out about 20 years before you were born. That’s like me jamming out to Perry Cuomo’s Hot Diggity in high school. It’s an oldie. You like old people music.”

This is a shocking, shocking revelation for Republican Mouthpiece The New York Times.

*Who* could have predicted that the Newspaper of Conservative Record would protect Republicans and attack Democrats?
At the same time the NY Times was hyping Hillary Clinton's emails, it had a reporter with emails from Jeffrey Epstein that were highly damaging to Trump.

The more NYT apologists try to minimize this the clearer it becomes that they don't understand why much of the public doesn't trust legacy media.

I took a meeting in my car today instead of grabbing a table. $SBUX closed my local store in retaliation for unionizing, so I’m not giving them money anymore, but in my house we don’t cross pickets even to make them look busy and successful and sit without buying to do Zoom!
As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

Whenever I see think-pieces about “How to talk to family-members who support Trump,” I think about stories like this, and I’m sorry but family members who support this aren’t worth talking to. They support using chemical weapons on children. We owe them nothing.
“Mommy! Mommy! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!”

That was a 2-year-old girl's reaction when she was hit with tear gas deployed by nearby immigration agents as she played in a Chicago park.

Her mother details their story to @NBCNews

Chicago residents say kids tear-gassed due to nearby immigration enforcement
A Chicago mother tells NBC News she and her 2-year-old were hit with a chemical agent. Many residents say the city wasn’t a “war zone”— until immigration agents swept through.

I know it’s too much to expect them to know their history, but if the American Revolution had a motto, it definitely would not have been “immigrants go home.”

It would have been “get your fucking soldiers out of our cities.”

There are worse people in politics than Gavin Newsom.

I’ll never vote for any of those people either, but at least they don’t pretend to be progressive while attacking family, unlike this total shitheel.

In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.
Not a shitpost: #NoKings is feel-good performative activism for comfortable mostly upper and upper middle class white folks and that’s good, actually. Millions of people in the streets protesting a fascist regime is good. It is good for the normie baseline to be massive displays of public dissent.

Remember how the number of serial killers and other violent crime in the 1970s and 1980s was linked to massive, widespread lead exposure? Maybe we'll look back in 20 years and realize that America's (hopefully) brief descent into full-on fascism was a result of lead exposure, too.

we found that most protein powders and shakes have more lead in one serving than our experts say is safe to have in a day (🧵)
