Streets are still closed off in front of the Portland ICE facility at 8:30pm. Protesters have gathered on a side street. Dance party in progress.

My piece of shit neighbor with a bunch of republican signs in her yard has apparently been filming the guys who do our yard and taking photos of their car. I can’t believe I live in a place where I’m worried hard working, decent people are going to get the fucking gestapo called on them.

While hurricane sandy was hitting New Jersey, my Maryland school district canceled class. (We were kind of getting hit too) So my friends and I drove around in his 1980s vw golf on completely empty streets while the sky turned green. Very fun, but probably not the world’s most responsible decision.

I’m young(ish), and the thing that fucking enrages me is that my grandparents who have spent so long trying to make this world a better place can’t rest. My grandma gets out there with a walker and a hand drawn sign the same way she has been for 80 years. It’s inspiring and fucking infuriating.

Broadly I think we as liberals have an important role to play in fighting back the “silent majority” bullshit the conservatives runs on.
Our role is being outspoken and public about our belief in liberal democracy and the rights of marginalized people.
I am fully “In this house we believe…” pilled

I retract my post as the Spanberger campaign has shown up and placed one in my yard for me. (At my request of course) glad to be adding to the wave of @abigailspanberger.com signs popping up in my neighborhood. We are going to win this one and win it well.

I’m not worried about them winning here but it is frustrating that I can’t get any of the democrats running in VA to send me a yard sign.

Feel like it’s bad to let republicans plaster signs in the median (illegally) but to do so while I can’t even get a couple to stick in my yard is unconscionable!

The first one I saw in traffic I pulled up next to and asked the post man how he likes the new truck! They’re very happy with them!

I’ll have to check it out next time I’m in town. Always looking for a good bakery.

Truly, a testament to his craft that he was able to shake Eric Andre, a man who has made a career putting people in the most uncomfortable situations possible.

Listening to the Bulwark guys piss and moan about how awful Jay Jones’ comments were was really funny to me.

I generally like them nowadays but I’m sorry we do still remember what you guys were doing when you were working for Republican campaigns.

I think the split is honestly fascinating. It’s like horseshoe theory in action. With a moderate and reasonable statement. He pissed off the worst people in both camps like these folks

Some fascinating brains on display in the skeets here
Skeet reading “The Israeli military most likely murdered more Israelis on Oct 7 than Hamas did.” Skeet reading “You could have just shared the first paragraph and waited till tomorrow to spread your genocide-n-apartheid™ lies about Israel, the only Jewish-majority nation on earth. Sadly, I'll have to stop here so I don't inadvertently violate terms of service.” Skeet reading “October 7th wasn't a war crime, it was one of the most legal, morally justified, and comparatively humane military operations in human history” Skeet reading “Only because they are winning.
What do you think Hamas would be doing to Israelis if they took over Israel?”

(They refers to Israel in this quote)

He played one of the best sets I’ve ever seen at Lightning in a Bottle when I went out there! Just an amazing mix of music and he has incredible energy on stage!

Also the comments seem to have attracted the most insane people from every side.

This is a good statement holding a clear moral conviction against the murder and genocide of civilians.

I am glad that some politicians are committed to being clear eyed about this conflict despite the way most everyone engages with it.

My statement on the two year anniversary of October 7, 2023.
“Two years ago today, Hamas carried out a horrific war crime, killing more than 1,100 Israelis and kidnapping 250 more. I mourn these lives and pray for the safe return of every hostage still held and for every family whose lives were torn apart by these atrocities.

In the aftermath of that day, Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Israeli government launched a genocidal war: adeath toll that now far exceeds 67,000; with the Israeli military bombing homes, hospitals, and schools into rubble. Every day in Gaza has become a place where grief itself has run out of language. I mourn these lives and pray for the families that have been shattered. Our government has been complicit through it all.

This must end. The occupation and apartheid must end. Peace must be pursued through diplomacy, not war crimes, and our government must act to end these atrocities and hold those responsible to account.

These last two years have demonstrated the very worst of humanity. We must answer it by modeling the very best: a relentless pursuit of our higher ideals and an unwavering commitment to universal human rights.”

I do wonder if the success of The Iron Claw has anything to do with it too? Trying to ride its coattails, but I feel like if anything it’s been both too long and not long enough for another film in that vein.

My wife got a tattoo at the mall at 16. Her mom had to sign a form and be there for it. They hoped that it would scare my wife out of getting any more, they were unsuccessful in that.

The precursor to those flat packs. Manually assembled and pushed forward. Good article where I found the photo.

This is an incredible result. I grew up going to MCPS schools. I always knew that the actual population of fervent bigots in MOCO was minuscule. It’s really such a shame they were given such outsized influence by the Supreme Court.

This whole controversy lens further credence to my theory that everyone should read more sociology. Erikson said punishment is applied to define the outer boundary of acceptable behavior in society. I think the same thing happens in micro on social networks all the way down the line.

Yeah really provides credence to my dramaturgical theory of American politics. Which can be surmised as everything is a performance but performance is no different from conviction.
