If Florida kills Samuel Smithers next week, it will be the state's 14th execution this year — nearly 3 times more than the 5 carried out in Texas.

Is the idea to demean those they see as their opponents (which have included U.S. citizens) in order to garner support from the right? Or is it a recruitment tool?

The FBI Agents Association confirmed in a statement late Friday that more than a dozen agents had been fired, including military veterans with additional statutory protections, and condemned the move as unlawful.
