I wrote a thread in 2021 imagining life in Nazi America as a thought experiment. The goal was to get people to think about how it would affect *them* and not just think about it historically hoping maybe they’d rage against it. Oh well…

It’s the only thing I wanted to salvage from the old place.
As we endure this painfully slow slide into fascism, let's imagine Nazi
 America.
 (1) Our biggest celebrities will be creativity-deficient hacks like Baio and
Sorbo. Think their new sitcoms will be funny?
With all the good writers black-listed, Tomi Lahren will be pulling Emmys.

Y’all, politely ask, “Which law? Please name the statute.” If he does name some statute, look it up on your phone, and it will be bullshit.

If he threatens to put you in cuffs, politely ask, “On what charge, specifically? Please name the statute.”

Then ask them if they’re familiar with §1983.

New — Video shared with me shows ICE officers in DC detaining a man on Friday.

Bystander filming asks man for his name. ICE agent lies and says he’s not allowed to speak to him “by law” and another says “We’ve arrested American citizens for being too close…If he gets any closer, put him in cuffs.”

Right, and @anatosaurus.bsky.social, whom everyone should follow, has a great essay recently that covers that topic.

Democratic Party strategists treat public opinion as if it is calcified, whereas Republican Party strategists understand that it is SHAPED.

Such interesting posts, James. My Midwestern family would rather drown under a deceased family member’s debts than disclaim the worthless estate—that’s how entrenched this idea is.

I suppose it’s a pithy policy tit for tat—and those monsters SHOULD be paying up—but the 2 aren’t tied together.

Listen, please.

We will make zero progress on emancipatory social-welfare movements and, thus, against fascism until a critical mass of already-progressive people come to realize how disgusting and alienating the notion that public goods and services would be net funded by rich people is.

That’s been the case since 2017. It never stopped and has occurred at every level of government.

In case you need motivation to keep fighting, imagine living in this world, because it's what awaits us if we give up and not one of us will be safe.

Being white, cis or straight won't mean a thing.
Because you're a leftist, you're not rich and you're exploitable.

We're all in this boat together.

No shit.

What’re you gonna do about it?

If by “us,” you mean “fascists”….

I’ve lost my faith in America and the future and now I just wait for when it all comes tumbling down finally.

Sure wish Dems would’ve done something to stop it.

Sure wish Dems still would, but I don’t expect it.

I have worked for a member of Congress and remember how he was in this bubble and didn’t understand reality anymore, but then we explained it to him and he understood.

This has been going on a decade. It doesn’t make sense.

If you go back and look at Abbott’s tweets, he started laying the groundwork for Trump’s immigration ploy in early March 2021, just weeks after Biden’s inauguration. He got other TX officials on board, too, “sounding the alarm” about the “crisis” that had all of a sudden appeared at the border.

Sending troops from Texas to forcefully occupy and suppress cities in Illinois and Oregon IN OPPOSITION TO THOSE STATES' GOVERNORS is literally a civil war and it's cooking my brain that Democrats are simply pretending it isn't happening

UPDATE: Hegseth today called up 400 members of the Texas National Guard, with Gov. Abbott's apparent permission, to be deployed "where needed, including in the cities of Portland and Chicago." www.politico.com/news/2025/10...

That, in itself, is a failure of the system—that even HEALTHY AMERICANS are that close to financial ruin by our government whims.

It’s absurd that we have allowed this by placating “conservatives” who now transparently want us dead.
