The performances of the two women at the center of BELÉN are two of the best I've seen this year. I just happened to be browsing Prime tonight and see the title pop up (I hadn't got to the screener they sent over yet).

There were brief stretches in the middle of "The Secret Agent" when my mind wandered — it's Friday and I'm tired — but the movie is generally so vibrant and deliciously weird, as well as a not-subtle reminder of the unsettling sensation of living under a regime that can just make people disappear.

Ditto for THE MASTERMIND, imho
Josh O’Connor in WAKE UP DEAD MAN, a real “ohhhh I get why this guy is in everything right now” performance 👍

Tonight: first-time viewing of BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID. I assume the cast had fun making this movie. It's not much fun to watch, though. Still, Redford hot!

also just on a personal note having worked at both WB and Netflix, I have no faith in either company and anything leadership says about a love of movies is a big fat lie. TCM (where I also once worked) leadership does their best to navigate bomb filled waters every day.

after nearly a year of covering mostly what gets labeled a Trump administration “distraction”—threatening immigrants and trans people; empowering white nationalists —you know what if (what if), that being what Trump ran on and what Trump is doing, this is the actual substance of the Trump presidency

‘We can’t do this a lot’: El Paso Water CEO warns as questions grow over Meta data center’s water use
Meta is permitted to use as much as 1.5 million gallons of water per day, but the data center’s actual water usage will depend on how hot it is in El Paso.

Sometimes I remember the show Frank's Place (starring Tim Reid) and I wonder how many other '80s kids watched it with their parents. I wish it was streaming somewhere.
