Ditto community management - think of it as cultivating positive engagement, behavior, and culture… which reduces the need for moderation and reduces racism, harassment, etc.

I did a whole decade of research on this. People still think online groups spontaneously engage 🙄
We had a goodish internet..

But forums were racist, the platforms you miss often stole willfully from the marginalized :

Forums require moderation that folks didn’t think was work , so moderators and their institutional knowledge never got systemetized

Every few years there's a bunch of "pivot to video" discourse about how creatives should all start making videos instead of doing text-based work. And every few years we discover again that the supposed "popularity" of video is based on fake audience numbers created by the video platforms.
