We’re all being coy, but I will say that the end of #LionGirl involves arson ;D

14. Now that you have some ideas of your story's beginning and the main character's goals & growth, can you come up with a few different story endings that would be satisfying for a reader?

You’re right. I was in a discord group with a few writing partners for a while, but it fell apart.

At this point, I'll be happy if I come with an ending that I'm satisfied with. Given the general silence from the people I've asked to beta read the prequel to my WIP, I'm assuming no one will ever want to read it, no matter how good i make it

Answering this for both book 1 & the whole series. This post will be vague; following posts will be more spoilery.

Book 1: Ends with the twins in direct conflict, & a cliffhanger with a big twist reveal.

Series: Happy ending! All truths are revealed & a more just world is reborn.

NEW: There’s a disaster unfolding in Alaska right now. And no major network is covering it.

The remnants of Typhoon Halong battered western Alaska overnight. Homes, with people in them, have literally been swept into the Bering Strait.

At least 20 are missing. No comment from any federal agency.

Happy Thanksgiving.

This year, we have two significant things to be thankful for:

We aren't Americans (which is the reason for the season, up here, going back to 1814.)

Pierre Poilievre did not form the government this Spring.

On this date, Matthew Shephard died 27 years ago. He was beaten, tortured, and left for dead on fence for being gay. Please keep him and his wonderful mother Judy in your thoughts. And let's all work for a world where such horrific things do not happen to anyone. ❤️🏳️‍🌈

Growing into the person he could potentially be, in this case, means that Josh successfully takes over Alternate Josh's life.

So, I suppose in this case, the unwitting antagonist would be Alternate Josh, simply by the fact that he would prefer not to be murdered. 🧵

12. What could you use to represent obstacles that try to stop the main character(s) from achieving their goals and from growing into the person they could potentially be? Consider other characters, forces of nature, difficult circumstances, etc.

#PlotTober Day 12 is "Antagonists" - of which there are none in First Light. Rather, the opposing force is culture shock, inner demons, and the dangers of an unsafe physical environment. 1/3

The three sets of antagonists are:

- Micah’s in-laws
- Micah & Steve’s church
- As yet unnamed antagonist she’ll encounter later #nospoilers

All represent the immense pressure she faces to conform within toxic, high control religion.

Lex's father is the Big Bad of SpaceWIP, but a lot of the obstacles in Book 1 are more circumstantial than represented by any one character. Lex being a stranger to the Fleet is her biggest hurdle, and the Trial of Succession is the true antagonist for Daemrin, not the other contestant. #PlotTober

#PlotTober difficult circumstances for sure. Rebecca's Aunt Winnie could be a roadblock, because she'd want a piece of what Rebecca's parents had. The haunting in her home and being a civilian linked to the case can bar her from information. I'm fuzzy on the details for this still.

For Clara, her antagonists starting out are the Reprobate people she finds herself stranded among after getting lost outside Arx Lucis. As an Elect Paladin, her life is in real danger out there. Think a lone stormtrooper stranded on a planet full of angry rebels.

3) Mostly, however, she's her own antagonist. Her decisions place her in greater dangers than she needs to be in, and probably stop her from achieving her primary goal.
eolaspellor.bsky.social
2) Paru is the only one of her daughters who is curious about her past, and that also represents a threat to her mother.

Zansi is deep undercover, so anyone who could expose her is a potential threat to her safety, and an obstacle to her achieving her goals -- even if they seem friendly.

Where would a plot be without an antagonist, or two?
Paru's primary antagonist is her mother. She doesn't want Paru to grow into the person she could be, because Paru represents her own evil getting the best of her, and she knows it.
