Phyllis Gardner, Early Skeptic of Theranos, Dies at 75.

Of Elizabeth Holmes, founder of Theranos and convicted of fraud in 2022, Gardner said, “She was a young kid with only rudimentary engineering training and no medical training.”

Six federal circuits—the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, and 11th—all agree that the First Amendment protects the right to record police performing their duties in public.

Taught my students last week that they have a First Amendment right to record in Pennsylvania. So do folks in Chicago and Portland.

The primary argument I’ve heard for teaching the “responsible” use of AI is the fact that our students are using it whether or not we endorse it, and attempts to prevent its use in and out of the classroom are bound to fail.

There are already plenty of doctors out there giving terrible advice without consequence (other than making a ton of $). They’re operating wellness clinics, w IV vitamins & O2 to healthy people, and prescribing testosterone to “boost energy”.

Old line in reporting. "If one side says it is raining and the other says it is sunny you don't print what they say you look at the window" never has that been more true and more important.

This is pure delusional brain melt if you take a camera crew almost anywhere here in #Portland.

Trump: "I don't know what could be worse than Portland. You don't even have stores anymore. They don't even put glass up. They put plywood on their windows."

Unprecedented, truly massive turn outs for #NoKingsDay are crucial. Not only for themselves, but to build momentum for a #GeneralStrike and boycott. Money alone talks.

This figure notwithstanding, the scale isn’t standardized.

Wait until you hear about the edema scale. 😉

Did it not count when the previous health professionals at the CDC stated quite clearly that everyone without an established contraindication should get a COVID vaccine?

Based on the experience of countries that have tried this, there’s overwhelming evidence that it is utterly unnecessary.

This serves absolutely no purpose other than to reduce vaccine uptake:

These are the lowest cost insurance options for a 62 year old Georgian making $65k.

2025: $228
2026: $1142

She will lose $704/month in credits because of GOP cuts to health care.

This is a crisis. We cannot wait to fix this.

It is irresponsible to have a headline like this while burying the lede 8 paragraphs down that what Trump is saying is a lie.

(Truth: the cost of groceries has objectively risen since Trump took office.)

Trump insists grocery prices are down. Do Americans buy it?

The comments in response to this Reddit post on hospital staff wearing earbuds at work are pretty wild.

I’m sorry if you think you are underpaid, but listening to a podcast while actively engaged in patient care is not ok.

I believe part of it is also because the day-to-day lives of most Americans are not yet impacted in a visible way. Although what's been happening to the US is an existential threat to our nation's future, it remains too easy to ignore.

Trump's Gestapo is breaking the law. Where are the Illinois State Police in all this?
ericstrong.bsky.social
The bottom line is that Republican leaders in Congress are refusing to negotiate at all because previous Republican leaders were ousted after their base saw negotiation with Democrats as a betrayal.

That, combined with Republicans controlling all parts of the govt, makes this shutdown 100% on them.

Why are the state police not protecting the people of Chicago from ICE?

ICE are domestic terrorists, and Illinois should treat them as such.

Everyone should listen to Chris Murphy's extraordinary warning about Trump on our pod. First, he says the logic must be that the more lawless he gets, the stiffer the resistance.

"If I give in and consent to these kinds of tactics then it just normalizes it all." 1/
