It’s hard to get ready for work in the dark, but I do enjoy watching the sky get lighter before I have to leave. On the countdown now to the turning point of the year. I am essentially a big leaf, I need daylight. Not even sunlight - although it’s nice. I am a simple soul 🥰

Being a British parent is so weird bc you're actually worried about paying the sky high rent/mortgage & getting GP appointments but the entire press keeps telling you you're worried there's a trans person or immigrant nearby & the vat on Eton means there'll only be two skiing holidays this year

It’s the lack of imagination that grinds me down. The inability to see that people could change, or be more than they might at first seem, to understand potential, to look properly at all.

Not-rich people aren’t a burden for a country. They’re an opportunity, if you don’t just try and crush them.
This is so disgusting.

My dad abhors any negative comments about immigrants. Asked him recently why he’s so strong on it: ‘Because we’re always happy to take the rich and clever ones. Which means it’s not about disliking immigrants. It’s about disliking the poor and vulnerable. And that’s a bad human instinct.’
This is so disgusting.

As we’ve entered Hour Three of this World Cup draw, we now know that Scotland will face two of the opponents from ‘98. I’ve also lost the will to live 😩😴

FIFA, by the way, have been corrupt and terrible at what they do for as long as I (or most football fans) can remember. It's just been scaled up with this Trump/Infantino axis in line with the fact we live in a dystopian movie now.

You know how the 1934 World Cup was held in Fascist Italy and totally nobbled by Mussolini? It was less embarrassing than all this #WorldCupDraw

It's like at the end of a horror movie where hands come up through the ground to drag the bad guy into hell
This is the most horrific trophy I’ve ever seen. It looks like a cursed object found in a desert crypt.

Entering Hour Two of the World Cup draw is truly an insane experience. Especially considering the draw hasn’t started yet.

Donald Trump winning the ‘FIFA Peace Prize’ is like when I didn’t win at school sports day so my mum made me a medal out of a yoghurt lid.

Last Christmas,
I gave you a book entitled 'Cure your obsession with how heavy your gifts are',
But the very next day
You gave it a weigh.

A reminder that the BBC One ident for Christmas 1993 literally has to be seen to be believed.

I know I said I’m happy to embrace my middle age, but this is a little steep. I’m 40 😂

This is a tricky time of year if your mental health isn’t great. Getting up in the dark, it’s pouring down and my brain has even more things on the to-do list than normal.

Taking half an hour this morning to look out the window at the birdfeeder has helped a lot. I’m fully embracing my middle age 😂
