Here is a thread about wrestling moves I would like done to me:
Double apple: yesterday's night apple, Winecrisp, I think, WineCrisp™, obtained in Phila. Mostly: cardboard. Today: Peck's Pleasant! Pretty apple, mild sweet flavor, a delight. Billed as "clean and fresh with green tea and lemon flavors," sure, why not.

The "humanitarian pier" visible on Google Earth - not functioning for its intended purpose of delivering aid in the least efficient way possible, but in fact languishing in Ashdod port on June 17, 2024 after being towed there on June 14.

The majority of my department met to talk this through because the guy got impatient and escalated 3 levels above. Rather than for example talking to the photo archivist directly
Hey should I let a documentary filmmaker borrow 8000 negatives so that he can scan them himself. Seems like a great opportunity

One hundred percent agree. If you are an author, don’t do anything about the piracy of your work. Don’t even think about it. It’s a complete waste of time and energy.
Calling authors petit bourgeoisie is indeed insane. We are artisans and we deserve to profit from our labor.

That said, digital piracy has never been shown to represent actual lost sales, and may in fact DRIVE sales. I think authors should cool out about it.
We’re not small business owners, ffs - we’re independent contractors, and we are routinely robbed by the world’s dumbest dingbats.

On reflection the betrayal is, above all, embarrassing for my betrayers, who thought they were helping. This all calls to mind the infamous Ecce Homo botched paint job. In this scenario I am the beautiful image of Christ that does not need fixing
I have been betrayed but it's fine. I love vengeance ⚔️

Prison mail scanning has to be the most robust digital humanities implementation in America
NEW — Illinois residents can submit comments to state leaders by Nov. 24 to oppose mail scanning, which allows prison officials to scan physical mail and reproduce it into digital copies.

Criminal justice advocates say the practice doesn’t make prisons safer.

I have thought about this a lot and in addition to Bakoon's Tips, like with other info lit it helps to read all kinds of writing by "people," genius and dumbass alike. Seems obvious to me that reading a lot helps you be a person but better posters than me have died on that hill
you gotta "go with your gut"
people keep looking for silver grammar bullets for detecting ai writing, but there's not really a single one that doesn't get get you a ton of false positives. "x, not y" is probably the closest you can get.
