Less than 48 hours to go on the ENDLESS FANTASIA Kickstarter, y'all! The campaign ends on Monday morning! If you've been on the fence about backing it, now's the time to take the plunge!

We're currently at just over $37,000. I wonder if we can hit 40K? 🤔

78. Coco (2017).

Man, it took way too long for me to see this one. Especially because I really liked it.

Seriously, when it comes to great Pixar movies, I rarely see Coco get brought up, but it absolutely should be. Great cast, great music, incredible theming...honestly, probably the only-

Alt: I want to make an "I'm in love with the Coco" joke, but I'm far too white to do so.

"By the time she died at the age of 79, she had as strong a star persona as her original screen fashion idol Katharine Hepburn — the kind that made inattentive viewers assume she was just playing herself." Wherein I write about the incomparable Diane Keaton. www.vulture.com/article/the-...
The Unfading Beauty of Diane Keaton
For over five decades, cinema bent itself around her profoundly original image. It had no choice.

I had a pinup of this art, well, pinned up on my wall for years. Breyfogle was THE Batman artist for me growing up and this era was the first time I thought Robin was cool.

I have a feeling adding shit like 💀 to make us sound young will just make us sound old too so I'll still with lol

Yesterday, I read that, according to Gen Z, when a Millenial puts "lol" at the end of something, it makes them sound old.

They said nothing about Gen X, but, whatever, lol

The real truth is that box office has nothing to do with the quality of a film.

Movies either do well or they don't.

What always mattered is that it worked for the individual viewer or not.

It's like when people were saying Sinners was a box office smash online.

The movie did good/well for its budget, but it wasn't a blockbuster in comparison to the constant online discourse.

Same with One Battle After Another and Weapons.

This is why I can't take Box Office Twitter/Sky seriously.

A lot of people aren't thinking about movies right now or are motivated to seek them out.

It did strike me as odd that people were making a fuss over Tron: Ares failing to meet industry projections, but not mentioning that "original" film Roofman was also failing to meet industry projections, just like The Smashing Machine a few weeks ago.

We've had alternate realties since the beginning of mythology.

From Dante Alighieri to JJ Abrams.

If anything, they are metaphorically more relevant than ever in the age of 24/7 internet culture.

From different variants of a person's personality online and offline to different realities socially.

I can't be the only one tired of "alternate dimensions" in TV shows and movies. just feels like a lazy device at this point.
firebirdmaximus.bsky.social
"first real directing role". Hadn't Ben Stiller already done Reality Bites at that point.
firebirdmaximus.bsky.social
Not really, considering that's been a thing in both tv and movies for decades.

Also are you including "Alternate Universes" in that, or just "Alternate Dimensions".

"few people"? I was under the impression the Operation Overdrive suits were well-liked amongst the fandom.

Same unfortunately. He's a troll and a ghoul who just likes watching other people suffer and cares about no one's well being but his own.

In my experience at least, that seems to be reason enough for people like that. 🫤

It took me a long time to learn that he had just weirdly backstabbed a bunch of people for seemingly NO FUCKING REASON.
