Still reeling from the Stanford report on Brexit. Reduced GDP by up to 8% and investment by as much as 18%. The UK Treasury would have £40 billion more each year if Britain had remained in the EU. Devastating self-immolation.

Almost half the Waymos on California streets are driving around empty. They're either waiting for the next customer or en route for a pickup.

If robotaxis scale, anything close to that level of deadheading would create crushing gridlock.

A mockery of justice. The US Attorney should be sanctioned by the court and disbarred for this.
NEWS: During a hearing in federal court in VA, prosecutors confirmed that the operative indictment in the case against James Comey was never shown to or voted on by the entire grand jury before it was presented in open court.

Defense counsel argued that’s a complete bar to further prosecution

Also, Trump is completely incoherent without editing—even though his followers and everyone else knows exactly what he’s saying.
Good on @edwardluce.bsky.social for pointing out that the BBC's Trump documentary edit was bad but in support of a point that is still absolutely true. Donald Trump *did* encourage his supporters to march on the capitol building on.ft.com/47LX3fE via @FT

The Washington Spirit move on in the playoffs
Goalie and team captain Aubrey Kingsbury saved the day last weekend, but the pressure now ramps up.

Today’s reporting reminds me of this recent picture from right outside one of our local high schools. We’re seeing a lot of youth use bikeshare to get to school these days—and in case you missed it, DC’s school attendance crisis is currently grave. Maybe we should be encouraging this!

It was a beautiful day to celebrate the opening of the Metropolitan Branch Trail from Fort Totten to Takoma!

The Metropolitan Branch Trail is more than just a bike path -- it connects us to each other, to schools and work and recreation, and to a vibrant alternative to sitting in traffic.

A decade ago, solar power barely registered in Hungary’s electricity mix — just 0.2% of generation. Back then, nuclear, coal, and gas dominated the grid.

Fast forward ten years and solar power now supplies around 1/4 of Hungary’s electricity — a remarkable transformation.

Good news: more than 50% of the world’s economies have seen carbon emissions from fossil fuel power generation peaking. And with the speed of change in the electricity sector many more will join this growing list in coming years.

I don’t think we acknowledge enough how much of an enormous personal sacrifice it is to run and serve in public office—especially in Congress where you are likely to have to make difficult choices about whether to move your family (on top of sacrifice time with them, which is guaranteed).
