Yeah, there's a difference between "Of course they would do this awful thing" and "Look how they have done this awful thing." Tangible transgression shocks the consciences of witnesses far more than theoretical transgression. Few people operate at that level of abstraction. They need to see it.

What's sort of incredible is that it lays bare how much of the economy is just vibes.

There has been no value created, at all. The only reason we aren't already crashing is because the rich are holding out hope it'll pay off.

It turns out that the GOP lost the messaging battle in past shutdowns not because they demanded a certain policy, but because they demanded an *unpopular* policy.

I think the best possible explanation is that while TRON never gained wider acceptance with the public, *filmmakers* study TRON the same way they do Citizen Kane and Hitchcock films.

The substance of TRON matters less than how it was made, so it's less popular with audiences than creators.

Pretty confused by how TRON became a big-budget movie franchise. Was it a bit hit when it came out? No. Did it become a big hit on video/TV? Also no. Do people have fond nostalgic memories of it? Eh kinda but not really. Was it secretly great and critically acclaimed? No again
