Like others I played the Arc Raiders playtest, enjoyed it and was looking forward to the game only to discover they are using AI voices.

Their reasoning was that they can "go from ideation to implemented voice work in hours not months"

Thing is, that's not an AI issue, that's a pipeline problem...

If you, as a studio decide you're going to use human voices, you can easily create a fast, responsive pipeline.

There are 1000s of voice actors, ready and available with broadcast quality home studios that can get you audio, fast.

This is a leadership problem, not a logistical one.

Yes, even if it’s “just” for store assets

However it’s intended, it LOOKS like an active gap in your craft, and there’s infinite other games to spend my time on

If you want to invest in these middle managers in big companies, get them to make a game at the 200K-1 mill range before investing tens of millions.

They should be able to deliver something, because most of us don't get close to a million bucks and can ship fun, innovative games.
