If you're 45 or older, please get a colonoscopy. I'm 48 and I just had my first screening, and I have cancer.

Fuck cancer.

It's that giving time of year again, so this is a reminder that no matter how they try to dress it up, the Salvation Army is not a charity.

if I could only listen to one kind of music for the rest of my life, the answer would be Memphis soul. RIP Steve Cropper, whose guitar and production defined the Stax sound as much as Booker T’s organ or Otis Redding’s shout

The fact that Guns N' Roses never made a Christmas album called "Welcome to the Jingle" makes me absolutely furious.

This is a top 5 breakup album. Just song after song of begging Lisa Bonet to forgive him for cheating and to please come back to him. One of his best.
Now Playing: Lenny Kravitz's 'Mama Said' (1991)—is this classic part of your record collection?

Funniest part of an NFL football game is when the defense gets a turnover and very briefly the football team turns into the theatre club and they do their little performance they rehearsed that week.

I don't think there is a digital replacement for this experience.
The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.
