The trains only ran on time for the rich.

" upgraded the main lines on which businessmen, politicians and comfort-minded tourists sped between Milan and Rome... As the direttissimi whizzed by on schedule, aged commuter locals filled with workers were shunted onto sidings."

Too many ill/disabled people have been put through months of stress & fear that more essential support will be taken away. Policies & rhetoric around immigration have been horrendous. There's little care or support for trans people. No party can take votes for granted - they need to win back trust

Harry Cole of Sun interviews Connor Tomlinson - who advocates banning ethnic minority MPs from parliament

Tomlinson regrets sacrificing Suella Braverman but feels sure (on no evidence) she would sacrifice herself to remove the risk of Kemi Badenoch, Rishi Sunak, Priti Patel & Shabana Mahmood!

How the BBC & ITV give disproportionate coverage to Farage & Reform: hard evidence from a serious study. BBC & ITV now give Reform more coverage than the Conservatives, more than the Lib Dems & nine times the Greens. Superb research from Stephen Cushion.

Danish intelligence accuses US of using economic power to ‘assert its will’ over allies.

Danes have it right. The US is not a reliable ally. It is using tariffs & military threats to secure dominance.

Europe needs closer economic & military cooperation.

The US also listed as a threat due to its growing interest in Greenland, which is vital to America’s national security

I came across this newspaper item purely by accident. But it seems like a monstrous injustice is being done. All as a consequence of the insanity of Brexit, coupled with this government's unforeseen efforts to look tough on... something! 🤔

I’d like to think it’s pretty obvious what’s been going on when the likes of this guy and Lineker are getting hounded out, and absolutely roaring spite-crazed headbangers like Sharon Davies are not only welcome but are being given non-jobs for life in the legislature

Mrs Joanne Murray, to give her her correct legal name, and not that made up one she uses on X, once again keen to reinforce the patriarchal idea of what constitutes a woman.
She even believes that people with DSDs are somehow men or women first, and their condition is some kind of ‘afterthought’.

This column on Vox is the biggest pile of steaming AI crap I've seen this year. Human's aren't running out of ideas. Instead, those with power and money don't want to listen to ideas that threaten their power and money.

Ideas are plentiful. Putting those ideas into action is the hard part.
We’re running out of good ideas. AI might be how we find new ones.
What if the best use of AI is restarting the world’s idea machine?

This sounds like defensive briefing straight from a Morgan McSweeney Whatsapp group in denial about how an ineffective leader unwilling to face the breakdown of US-Europe relations might not be the best figure to lead the UK into a post-American order

The idea that you mustn't change leader in time of war was one Boris Johnson's team pushed hard.

As I wrote at the time, the UK has a long history of doing just that. Indeed, "The ability to change leader during a crisis was once regarded as a strength of the UK system".

The fact is no presenter has ever had to leave the BBC for expressing conservative views, or even explicitly endorsing a right-wing party.

Not a migrant or a drag queen.

The far right stay silent on this because he’s a straight white British man. It doesn’t fit their narrative.

This man lives in Nigel FauxRage’s constituency. FauxRage is oddly silent on this.

Here's the 3-year running mean for the global surface temperature anomaly for the past 75 years of data, now at 1.51°C over pre-industrial.

Where is this going over the next 75 years? The Climate 8-ball is moving to its bunker in New Zealand.

We really should start to take global warming seriously otherwise we are toast...

Or do you think the physics of a water planet know mercy?

Sadly, we are not able to accept the new reality and are still in denial.

sad news that Robin Ince has been forced out of the premier BBC science entertainment show The Infinite Monkey Cage for refusing to be silent about his decent beliefs in public.

Noting again that people like Andrew Neil were allowed to present multiple shows for many years while openly right-wing.
Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.

The Government spends an average of £230,000 a year on every single child in care

Of that more than £60,000 is profit that never even goes near a child

The corporations get that, but if you foster a child you get only £10,000.

A sick system that has been twisted for profit
