Twin Cities MN folks, question:

Do you know a pain management specialist who is not a dick to people in pain?

I need a specialist who 1) believes in chronic pain of unknown etiology, 2) is willing to provide pain relief for conditions that never improve, and 3) IS NOT A JERK.

None of us eat canned cranberry sauce but we figured it needed to be on the table for symbolic reasons (like the bone on a seder plate). So every year since 1995 we are presented with the SAME unopened ceremonial can at the table. It still hasn’t exploded.

My grandmother and mom were watching a Hallmark movie once about Christmas in small town Vermont and a guy with a five o'clock shadow showed up and I said "uh-oh we think he's nice right now but he's got a scandalous secret" and my grandmother said "don't ruin it! I haven't seen this one!"

Talking to a colleague about why we get so few testing referrals for math learning disabilities.

My theory: widespread cultural acceptance of the idea that being “bad at math” is normal. You’d never hear another adult say “oh, I’m terrible at reading!” in a social context, right?

Just to be clear I mean specifically for young people.
sorry I was unclear, I mean specifically for young people.

A lot of older books don't age well cause they're racist or really sexist so I'm wondering if young people still have "hollow me out books"

Absolutely sick and tired of the prestige bias and nepotism in philosophy hiring. People who didn't do their degree at GRLpGpAG, and who aren't literally NAMED "GRLpGpAG," should still be able to compete for the position of Mr. at GRLpGpAG!!!!

Any recommendations for a game where I have to repair and expand a dilapidated farm/workshop/etc. but I don't have to spend my days running errands for a quirky bunch of young singles who I can marry?

Still looking for help with this!
Are there any catalogers/libraries with documentation for cataloging tarot decks using MARC? I’m writing documentation for our collection and want to make sure that I’m following best practices.

I know about Yale’s documentation, but it’s focused on historical playing cards.

Called a solar company support number and got an genAI bot

It couldn't do anything except answer general questions about solar and transfer me to real support

It read out phone numbers as amounts, e.g. "call them at one hundred seventy million, three hundred eighty five—"

I think we need to have a secondary discourse going to blow off some steam.

Something like: “Would Sherlock Holmes win the hunger games?”

I'm looking for people interested in reading btwn 5 and 50 pages of my new novel, heavily fueled by AI spite

Must be willing to *very honestly* answer questions like "is this confusing" and "what parts are boring" and "would you read more even if you didn't have to"

Probably better if you enjoy SF

A favor: Please describe to me the experience that you consider daydreaming? Or tell me if you don't have such a thing.

I understand it as an imaging yourself in some other situation than you're in. That's not a thing that happens in my brain, though I easily get lost in thought!

So I explained that the E.D. does not do chronic pain management. That I might, if I was sobbing or screaming, get a couple hours of fentanyl. Which wears off in 20 minutes.

The P.A. said she hoped I felt better soon.

There are 1,700 ballots that need signature confirmation. That is enough to change the election.
