I was at the 2017 ward 7 convention when I first met Frey. I asked him "why run for mayor, why now" and he said "I've done what I can as CM and now it's time for the next step" which to me meant this was a power grab game to him from the jump. Could not believe that was his answer.

2/ A question I ask every mayoral challenger is “why are you running?” People who run against Frey face an avalanche of $$ & elite wagon-circling. It’s no fun. Policies motive, and undoing injustices, but there’s often something they’ve experienced that make getting into the arena unavoidable.

7/ Caught in a lie, Frey never apologized. Instead, we got his famously weasely “Language became more casual, including my own.” BTW this is the 1st election voters can hold Frey accountable for lying & Locke dying, but the incident is almost memory-holed in coverage. www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/ne...
Minneapolis Mayor Frey Admits To Being Misleading On 'No-Knock' Policy Changes
"Language became more casual, including my own, which did not reflect the necessary precision or nuance. And I own that," Mayor Jacob Frey said.

My publisher’s been very patient. I’m not doing everything I said I’d do to promote this book (out in a few weeks) because I’m an organizer in a city under federal attack. My days are full and emotionally exhausting. Any help getting the word out means a lot. It's a book people need right now.

After almost eight years, Mayor Frey’s failed approach to encampments is harming everyone in our communities.

In an open letter to Mayor Frey, Cat Salonek Schladt highlights the impact of Frey’s “unwillingness to provide health, sanitation and trash services to our unhoused neighbors.”
Title text: "Ward 8 Dispatch" next to the Mpls for the Many logo shaped like a stamp. Below that the text, "For more than seven years, (Mayor Frey has) failed our neighborhood by refusing to meaningfully address the poverty, drug epidemic and resulting encampments that exist in our community. Because of your unwillingness to provide health, sanitation and trash services to our unhoused neighbors, we encounter unsafe drug use, uncapped needles, unsanitary conditions, break-ins and theft daily." Attributed to Cat Salonek Schladt, Ward 8 Resident"

I find this extremely chilling:
I spoke w a reporter this morning about Kimmel. (Reporter was / is great) They got back to me a short while ago to say they sought White House comment & WH demands to know first which experts they spoke with. I told reporter I'm happy to be quoted IN THE STORY but 1/x

The victim blaming in press coverage of last night's mass shootings in Minneapolis is unfuckingbelievable. Every story focuses on city efforts to shut down a homeless encampment.

I've read three stories on it—all of which quote officials—and I still have no idea WHO was shooting, much less WHY.

My 3yo just called the airport the "plane station" and honestly thats what it should be called. Also I feel I've succeeded at implanting trains first in this little consciousness.

Trans women are not dangerous. Being trans is not a mental illness. Mental illness does not make anyone a murderer, being a murderer does.

I'm a natural extrovert. I love door knocking. I love coalition building. I love having hard conversations. I have a master's degree, English is my first language, I'm tall and white. Even with all these things going for me, *I* hate caucuses and conventions! Let's get real and have primaries.
hilove.bsky.social
Frey was a bad loser on Saturday. I don't support him. This all day political pageantry has just got to stop. We can do better, democracy deserves better, I get primaries cost more and I'll fundraise to make the switch.

Where is the mpls dfl effort to move away from caucuses and conventions, towards something like a regular ass primary? can I be part of that work? Hmu.

'Vacations.'

The word is 'vacations.'

FAST COMPANY Article:

While retirement typically occurs, after
completing a career and saving and investing for it, a new trend is emerging among Gen Z career professionals
called "micro-retirement." Micro-
retirements involve taking a one to two- week break from work every 12 to 18 months.
Gen Z is using micro-retirement to avoid burnout, find greater fulfillment in their work, and enhance their overall well-being. However, it's not just Gen-Z:
