HOLD UP. This headline from the @wsj.com is dead wrong - No one at the actual opening ceremonies thinks the US team was being booed. Come on! The CBC broadcasters & people in the stadium are all crystal clear that JD VANCE WAS BEING BOOED, not the team.

Among the 300 layoffs was reporter Caroline O’Donovan, who covers tech companies and corporate accountability with a focus on Amazon.

The once prestigious newspaper is now fully at the mercy of billionaire owner (and Amazon founder) Jeff Bezos. trib.al/rlWOHyn

I don’t know maybe it’s me, maybe I’m old-fashioned, but doesn’t it seem like a bad idea for the president, a bunch of his cabinet members, the guy he let decimate our federal workforce and his future Fed Chair, to be implicated in the criminal files of a notorious child sex trafficker?

Something has shifted. We went to our usual Visibility protest today, displaying anti-ICE signs on a freeway overpass, and drivers were honking like crazy. Maybe 4x the typical number. And instead of 6-12 people on the bridge, there were almost 40. ✊

The real power center of the Republican Party isn't in their party anymore: it's the right-wing media ecosystem, which is primarily based in Silicon Valley. If you want to destabilize fascism, reigning in runaway tech corporations matters more than elections.

Yes. And many Americans do not even seem to realise this. With every day the Epstein files are not released, the government breaks the law, and having a lawless government becomes just the new normal.
imo they're just normalizing lawlessness & zero accountability, just like with ice

“The move toward more commentators telling you what to think about an America spiraling into chaos & fewer boots-on-the-ground journalists digging up what’s needed to fix that crisis—objective truth—couldn’t happen at a worse time…unfortunately this is not unique to CBS News.” @willbunch.bsky.social
I hate newsroom layoffs, but they did this to themselves

CBS News and Washington Post choose worst possible moment to lay off reporters, stress punditry - right as the streets of Minneapolis are showing how journalism can beat back government lies

My new column www.inquirer.com/opinion/cbs-...
CBS, Post blind themselves when America needs eyes on the ground |Will Bunch
Two iconic U.S. newsrooms slash reporting and stress opinion writing even as Minnesota proves the need for factual journalism.

BREAKING: As Trump transformed an immigration database into a tool to scrutinize voter rolls, newly unearthed comments show a prominent election denial activist was already claiming inside access to the effort — and touting a potential partnership with the Department of Homeland Security.
Leading election denier claimed DHS ‘wants to partner with us’ on voter roll checks. Now he’s a top official there
Comments from Phillips at the time suggest True the Vote, which has repeatedly pushed for access to federal data, also was working with DHS officials.

The only reason Homan replaced Bovino as the face of the occupation is because his lies are more polished and he doesn’t dress like a member of the Third Reich in public. But the policies and the state instigated violence remain unchanged.
CNN: How did we get to a place where we had Bovino having Border Patrol agents stopping citizens in interior of the country, asking them ID, creating fear? Who made the decisions to allow this kind of operation to proceed?

HOMAN: The reason for the massive deployment is bc of the threats & violence

There's no Trump "pivot" until we see real investigations into the government's killings and real accountability for them. As Rep Jamie Raskin notes here, someone in the White House is ordering DOJ to cover up these killings. Someone in DHS is directing this. Who? 4/

Again, your reminder that we/you again live in a country where concentration camps exist, & that the reason all of the awful & illegal things keep happening in 🇺🇸 politics is bc there are never any actual legal or personal consequences for all of the awful & illegal things happening in 🇺🇸 politics.
After being held in two of them as a boy, I fought for decades urging America to never again build concentration camps and put human beings in them. It breaks my heart to watch this happen twice now in my own lifetime.

"In the past, Republicans have waited us out because they thought we would break. This would be a dangerous moment for us to do that because of the specific moral question being put to the nation: Does the president of the United States get to murder American citizens?"
Chris Murphy to @gregsargent.bsky.social: "If people don’t see us fighting on something as existential as whether we condone the federal govt murdering our own citizens, there will be a mass withdrawal from politics altogether. This is a critical moment."

Fossil fuel, tech, banking, health etc industries must not write the rules for themselves & BANKROLL fascism.

The internal logic of his agenda dictates this of necessity.
