A federal judge nominee admitted today that he said during a sermon that disabled people shouldn't get married. As I wrote for @motherjones.com, in fact, many can't out of risk of losing their benefits. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
A federal judge nominee said disabled people shouldn’t be wed. In fact, many can’t.
Marriage often nullifies the government benefits they need to get by.

I saw that some lawyer is suing the IRS to count pets as dependents, and it is probably the stupidest lawsuit I have ever heard of that I desperately want the person to win. My dog is expensive as hell

Ableism makes you think you will be the exception.

Disability won’t happen to you.

You’re “better than that”.

You’re “stronger”.

You will succeed where the rest of us failed.

It’s not true. Disability can & does happen to almost everyone.

It’s not a moral failing.

People talk about being mean to waiters as a red flag. People who knowingly stay after the restaurant is closed are 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩

My spouse had shingles several years ago but can't the shingles vaccine because they are "too young" for it. We were extremely lucky that it wasn't very painful because I'm reading the other stories and just horrific.
people gotta talk about their shingles experiences. no one is going to enjoy this
All over my FB people talking about their bad experiences with shingles vax and dissuading each other from getting it! We need to give people real info on how to mitigate the symtoms caused by vaccines because vaccines are always better than meeting a virus unprepared. Yet drs aren't coaching ppl

Everyone in the Paramount-Warner Bros-Netflix situation is the worst. Fuck corporate consolidation.

A big pet peeve of mine is someone using AI to create something and then, asking for specific feedback on it without hardly looking at it or correct it themselves. Like you want me to do more work on your project than you did? You just want to further steal someone else's labor.

I was honored to stand alongside Mahmoud Khalil, who was wrongfully detained, to introduce my Dignity for Detained Immigrants Act.

He and the thousands of immigrants in detention or who have been detained deserve better from this country.

As someone who loves movies and television (and spends a lot of time learning about Hollywood history) Netflix trying to buy Warner Bros is shit. The media consolidation will make and has made things significantly worse for workers and audiences.

Every once in a while we need a news story about a drunk raccoon causing chaos and passing out just to get us through the utter horrific dumpster fire we are living in.

Today on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, I got to hangout with members of the neurodivergent and disabled community that I helped build at my work. Just lovely! 😭

The other aspect of this “the disabled might be actually faking it” is that, everyone saying it is just a bad day away from joining all of us.

When I first saw the Franklin image, I thought it was satire making fun of how callous the violence was being carried and how normalized it had become. Then, I realized it was posted unironically by Hegseth. Reality is much more absurd and cruel than anything we can make up at this point.
