Chicagoan. Cat dad. Antifa just means Anti Fascist.
My dad’s name was Bruce Campbell, and for Christmas one year he proudly gifted himself a copy of, “How to Make Love The Bruce Campbell Way.”

He was very proud of his purchase.
Time for a new year and old classics!

#nowwatching Evil Dead (1981)

What a film. Sam Raimi started as he meant to go on, and like any horror film junkie, this movie has a special place in my heart.
Also staring Bruce Campbell, self proclaimed greatest actor in the world.
Hey, I won't fight that.

Happy New Year from the northwest side of Chicago. May you find peace and happiness in the new year. And may ICE, Customs and Border Patrol, and all of their friends continue to eat butts.

New Year's Eve Laughter: a Public Transportation Urban Drama Thread. 4:25 Rock Island train out of La Salle Street. People grumpy, as crew didn't open doors at usual time. I'm in upper level seat, right side of train. We depart on time, though & hit 35th St/"Lou Jones." There the trouble began 1/?

Oh that sounds fun. I’m always looking for *more opportunities to talk to insurance providers.
Trump: "I want the money to go into an account for people where they buy their own health insurance. It's so good. The insurance will be better. It'll cost less. Everybody is gonna be happy. They're gonna feel like entrepreneurs. They're actually able to go out & negotiate their own insurance"

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

Tonight, in Chicago, North Side rapid responders and community members held a vigil. At least ten people were abducted by ICE in Rogers Park alone today. We uplifted the message RESIST ICE in lights. We spoke out, sang together, grieved, and reaffirmed our commitment to defending our neighbors.

In any other country, if federal agents fired upon journalists when unprovoked — what would we call it?

If federal agents marched down streets demanding papers — what would we say?

Authoritarianism — let’s not pretend it’s something else when it happens in our American cities.
