Showing the Bhattacharya hearing in my Health Politics class.

I appreciate that Bill Cassidy is having buyer’s remorse, but he absolutely knew Trump’s public health appointments would be an absolute disaster.

He knew, and he lacked any ounce of courage to stand up for health.

BREAKING: Texas Democrat Taylor Rehmet just won a *massive* landslide to flip a deep-red Senate district. He's up by 14 points in a Trump+17 seat—an overperformance of more than 30 points.

How did he do it? Here's our full writeup:

THE DEMOCRATS HAVE FLIPPED TEXAS'S #SD09 (Trump+17):

Taylor Rehmet (D)- 57.2%
Leigh Wambsganss (R)- 42.8%

A monumental flip in the northern suburbs of Fort Worth!

Somewhere there has to be a PA transplant who flipped from R to D.

A Mehmet '22 --> Rehmet '26 voter.
in other words Rehmet stocks are through the roof
Okay, looking at the precinct data, Rehmet overall *improved* vs the EV in the precincts that added eday votes and is broadly running ahead of Nov by a lot in those precincts as well

I'll give it another eday drop bc this one was small, but the eday numbers we did get point to a Rehmet win that might not be all that close in SD9

This first batch of about 2,700 e-day votes went 60-40 D, meaning they were *bluer* than the early vote, which was 56-44 D. If this holds, it's lights out for the GOP.

Rehmet does much better in EV this time, leading by 12 when he lost it by 12 in R1

Might have been distorted by the storm, but very promising start

no fan of jeffries, but holy shit is this article misleading. in the press briefing he calls for "a prohibition that DHS cannot *detain* or deport American citizens", and his focus throughout the briefing is on the detainment part
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) on Thursday said House Democrats will demand a ban on the deportation of American citizens as a condition of winning their support for legislation funding the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

People are reading this way wrong. Schumer detached DHS from the other five bills in return for a two week CR on the DHS bill. Now Democrats can make demands on DHS spending without having to shut down agencies covered in the other five bills. They have way more leverage to get real concessions.
People just going out here saying the literal opposite of what happened. Thune caved! Thune did! This is a cave by Thune and Senate Republicans, any possible way you cut it.

Fox News Poll: If the midterm election were today 52% of voters would back the Democratic candidate in their House district and 46% the Republican. The 52% Democratic support is the highest recorded for either party; the previous high was 50% for the Dems in Oct 2017.
